GW v Emory $60k v BC 45k v USC WL
So I am now considering these 4 schools...
GW at sticker, but I have strong ties to DC b/c I grew up there
Emory 20k/year, loved the school but wasn't crazy about Atlanta during my (short) visit
Boston College 15k/year, haven't been, I like Boston but have only ever been there in summer and am somewhat averse to the cold
USC waitlist, absolutely love CA, did UG in so-cal and am reluctant to leave
How important is ranking among these schools? How portable are they? What is life like in these cities (especially Atlanta and Boston)??? HELP!

Of your three choices Emory & Boston College deserve the most consideration due to cost & national ranking. Young professionals love both cities, however, both are very different from your beloved Los Angeles. In my opinion, Emory & Boston College offer contrasting law school cultures & atmospheres so you need to visit each law school while in session.

I think BC students are really nice and they seem to be very happy and full of school pride. However, I like Emory more (I liked the vibe of the campus, I thought I'd fit in a bit more, the COL is cheaper in ATL, and the weather is better). They're both great schools though, so I don't really think you can go wrong. As for GW, I personally don't think it's worth full price, especially with the very high COL in DC. I don't know how improtant money is to you though. FWIW, I do have a friend there who loves it.mich wrote:what is the atmosphere like at boston college? emory didn't seem like an overly cutthroat atmosphere when i visited, but i didn't really get a sense of this at GW and didn't see BC...
Good luck deciding!

All the schools are largely regional, so you should choose depending on your attraction to each particular area. I would personally go with Emory.
