Loyola vs. DePaul
I have the same amount of scholarship money for both. Which one is a better investment?
Also, is it worth it to invest in one of these schools when graduates from either one are competing with UC, Northwestern, U of M, and UI? Will it be hard to find a job in order to manage my debt in the Chicago law market?

I'm in the same situation also. 15K at DePaul but you have to be Top 35% and I have 10K at Loyola and you only have to be Top 60%. DePaul's offer is better but much riskier.
Not sure what to do. Loyola places better in the NLJ 250 firms though, thats a fact.

Contrary to popular belief, Loyola and DePaul are not in the same league. Loyola has better job prospects, placement in NLJ250, and a better reputation among Chicago than DePaul. DePaul only recently even cracked the top 100 list for law schools.

Correct, I'm not sure why a bunch of TLS posters think DePaul is comparable to Loyola/Kent.BarbellDreams wrote:Contrary to popular belief, Loyola and DePaul are not in the same league. @ jihrie: don't post 3 times with the same question, or you're going to be looking at warnings/bans.

Which is so funny because Loyola showed me so much more love than DePaul did. I'm going to have to send them a letter though this week thanking them so much for their generous offer.
I'd choose Loyola over DePaul any day if they were my top two choices.

When I was looking at the NLJ 250 graph that showed 12-15% of Loyola grads working at those firms I noticed something. If you are Top 15% at Loyola, wouldn't you just transfer to a school lke UIUC, NU, or Chicago? What would be the benefit of staying there?

On of the benefits is obviously remaining in the top 10-15% of your class
Move into another more competitive school and you might lose that edge. Also might be cheaper tuition wise to remain at the existing school with pretty good scholly...

Perhaps many of those 1Ls did, in fact, transfer out? The graph shows 12-15% of graduates. Also, they could have scholarships.nitr0x99 wrote:When I was looking at the NLJ 250 graph that showed 12-15% of Loyola grads working at those firms I noticed something. My apologies...first time user and I didn't quite know about the poll thing. Also, I think the third post was different; focus on DePaul/Loyola.
