Final Decision Time...Please Help!
Barring an acceptance to UGA (I am currently on hold) I have finally narrowed my decision down to two schools. I have lived in Atlanta my whole life and I love it here. However, Georgia State is third best school in the state (behind UGA and Emory) and I would also be competing for jobs with other top schools (UVA, Duke, Vandy, etc.). Tuition at GSU is pretty in expensive at just under 10k.
Kentucky on the other hand is the best school in its state. I really enjoyed my visit there and could definitely see myself settling there permanently after law school. Plus SEC football and basketball would serve as perfect study breaks. I have received a scholarship granting me in-state tuition which is 15k per year. In order to keep this scholarship I have to stay in the top 60% of my class.
What would you do in my situation?

From what I have been able to find online they are very similar. I thought it was strange as well. I plan on calling the Financial Aid office tomorrow to get the actual number.TipTravHoot wrote:Ehrm, including living expenses? I think my buddy at GSU law is paying somewhere in the range of 17k to 19k annually for COL. 14k is probably possible in Atlanta, but you won't like where you live.

It's definitely possible, but if they only give 14K for COA I would have to take out some extra private loans so I could live in a decent areashawty18ga wrote:I think my buddy at GSU law is paying somewhere in the range of 17k to 19k annually for COL. 14k is probably possible in Atlanta, but you won't like where you live.

Thanks for the votes! Seems like GSU is the clear winner thus far. Does anyone mind telling me
what made them vote one way or the other?
Thanks again!

This really feels like it's down to where you think you'd rather live. Despite the numbers given, I'm pretty sure that COL is probably a bit less in Lexington than Atlanta (which may more balance out the the price difference). Job prospects will likely be the same (in their prospective states).
All other things being equal, I will say this. UK basketball is always amazing--especially if you can see them live at Rupp Arena.

I would say don't go to a school just cause its the best school in it's state unless it is one of the best in it's nation also. If you love GA then go to GSU. If you want to relocate to Kentucky, then go there. I don't think the quality of basketball team should have an impact (and I'm a huuuuge college bball fan) on your career life plan.

when you answer the question of where you'd rather practice, you've answered the question. that's really all there is to it.
