UMN v Vandy in midwest

Post by taw856 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 5:31 pm

This is a purely hypothetical question, as I did not apply to Vanderbilt -- can't see myself living in the South again and probably wouldn't have had a great shot at admittance anyway.

Nevertheless, I'm wondering out of curiousity, outside of Minnesota but still in the midwest, would you consider UMN or Vandy to be a better buy?

EDIT: To include poll.

If you are either:
1) from the midwest
2) have connections to the midwest
then Vanderbilt would be the credited response.

If you have no connections/never lived in the midwest, then Minnesota would be better.

It's really that simple, trust me.

(well, given that you did not mention scholarships, long term goals, etc).

Hard to attach money with it being hypothetical, but let's guess Vandy gives $15K/year less than UMN gives.

And I'll hedge this hypothetical on the other two requests for information, too:

Let's say undecided career path and from the midwest but not well connected.
