Cardozo vs. Ohio State
Want to practice Mid or Big Law. Lived in California all my life, but want to try something new just can't really decide where. I've asked people about my decision but they don't really seem to know what to do. Any thoughts would be great, thanks! I am definitely waiting on a few more apps, but as of now these are my choices and am trying to narrow it down along the way

Re: Poll: Please Help
IT really depends where you want to practice after law school. Most of these schools will lock you in on a certain region.

I voted Cardozo. It's a decent scholarship and it would certainly be something new, assuming you want to live in a big city.
Loyola with a scholarship could be nice, and certainly something I would have considered (I got $0, blah), but if you want a change, LA may not provide that for you depending on where you are coming from.

pick the location where you want to practice. choose the one closest to that proximity. all of the schools above are regional schools.

Re: Poll: Please Help
Yea i've heard they are all regional schools, which is partly why it is hard to make a decision having never lived there. Does anyone have any insight on the quality of life at these schools? competitiveness, etc? Also, what is my best shot at getting mid/big law from one of these schools. I'm thinking my best bets are Cardozo and Ohio State for that?

It`s less likely for you to end up in shitlaw coming out of OSU.

That is where I was leaning too, would you say there are plenty of job opportunities for my gf there who will be coming with me? I mean it's columbus, so I am assuming yes, but does anyone know? She currently works at a really high end Resort and would like something similar..baboon309 wrote:OSU!crm wrote:Yea i've heard they are all regional schools, which is partly why it is hard to make a decision having never lived there. You should've listed how much you gonna pay a year instead of scholarship.Great Satchmo wrote:I voted Cardozo. It's a decent scholarship and it would certainly be something new, assuming you want to live in a big city.

If you don't factor that in, 24k seems always much better than 11k
I'll do that job for you.
Ohio State
COA 1st= $57208-$11000= $46208
2nd= $42258-$11000=$33258
3nd= $42258-$11000=33258
Total =$112,724, if you factor in accrued interest then it will be $124,390.09
Cardozo
COA 1st= $69471-$24000=$45,471
2nd=$69471-$24000=$45,471
3rd=$69471-$24000=$45,471
Total=$136,413, if you factor in accrued interest then it will be $155,745.82
Cardozo also has a huge class size (FT+PT), about 200 or more of their grads will be end up in shitlaw.

Right. I didn't argue that OSU would be more expensive, or that the schools are equally as expensive (especially considering COL in Columbus vs. NYC).baboon309 wrote:You should've listed how much you gonna pay a year instead of scholarship.Great Satchmo wrote:I voted Cardozo. I said it would be something new and the scholarship certainly helps.
A % of students from ANY law school will be in a bad position for jobs.
I've only been to Columbus for a few days, but I would rather be geographically bound to NYC than to Ohio. That just my opinion though, which is what I offered up here.

Re: Poll: Please Help
Go with Cardozo the scholarship is nice and the location is great. You will have a lot of internships. Just keep in mind you might be restricted to NYC (but hey many law students want to end up there anyway)
