Re: Emory
No. Their stats will almost certainly not increase due to their scholarship methodology, and it is doubtful that any other USNWR factor will jump enough to boost them. I'd say that it's much more likely that they either stand their ground or fall a little bit due to one of the Boston or midwestern schools making a move.mavsman88 wrote:Does anyone think Emory will actually go up this year. Re: Emory
I think what the above poster said is pretty close to spot on. I don't see Emory moving up. Standing their ground possibly, more likely dropping a spot or two. Notre Dame may climb a little (new law building and some other factors) and maybe one of the IUB, UIUC, UMinn trifecta will take them down a bit... Although on a side note, I don't see how those last three schools can all be ranked in the ~T20 when they're regional schools and are in the same general region.

Re: Emory
Keep in mind that the current rankings are going to use class of 2012 enrollment data and I think that Emory raised its medians last year, so that could definitely help their rank. Their employment numbers got rocked for the class of 2009, though, so that may hurt. I see them staying where they are, losing 2 spots at most, lucky if they gain one.

Re: Emory
I think Emory will be fine simply because the South market is less saturated than most of the markets of its competitors, and Emory's numbers have been shooting up about as fast as any other school's. That being said, I don't see Emory or Wash U passing up Vandy/Texas anytime soon, so there's really no room for them to move up. I also don't think either will be passed up. I'd anticipate Emory and Wash U being twins for a long time.

Re: Emory
Higher likelihood of matriculation for close yet over median candidates, which increases yield.pearl_earrings wrote:What is the thinking behind their scholarship distribution? Re: Emory
Not gonna happen. Too big a difference between Emory (66) and WUSTL (69). Given Minnesota's and Illinois' new medians, I would guess Emory will go down to around 21-23. But what's the point in excessive speculations when the new rankings are coming out in 3 weeks?

Re: Emory
New rankings are based on the class of 2012 right? Emory gave us their new numbers for those students that entered last fall. If I can find my admissions packet I can post the numbers.
