Chillest top law schools
What are they? I'm talking schools in the T14 or at least top 25-30 where you can work hard, of course, with smart people around you, but those fellow students are young and down for chillin at bars, drinking, listening to music and all that. Students who don't take themselves too seriously would be nice as well. Nice people. Also, good for outdoors stuff like hiking and trailrunning and cycling.
Any out there?

Re: Chillest top law schools
Thanks. What about Michigan, Vandy, Texas, Penn, NYU, GTown, UNC?
Any thoughts out there from current students? And do you agree on Stanford (my GPA puts me out of there anyways, but maybe others want to hear this), UVA, UCLA?

I would like to extend this same question to the 25-50 range.

NU is full of old people, but so far this semester I'm averaging 2-3 drunken evenings a week.

Is that generally true? I'm not trying to question you, but I'm very interested in UCLA and the environment you described sounds awful.postitnotes wrote:Michigan is pretty chill. I haven't done any work in almost 3 days now. hehe
The people I know who ended up at UCLA are really uptight, and also into celebrities and living the "LA lifestyle."

1) UVA: laid back
2) Northwestern: students a little bit older so they know how to balance things, and they're above the bs
3) NYU: how can you not "chill" at NYU
4) UCLA: sun, beaches, babes (and I consider it an elite on par with UVA and NU)
5) USC: see UCLA
6) Berkeley: UCLA with more hippies and Bohemians...and more hemp
NOT RANKED
I'd also imagine Wisconsin, UW-Seattle, UNC, WUSTL, Davis, AZ, AZ St., Tulane, and Florida to be pretty chill.

As someone planning on going to SLS, I think Yale, Stanford, and Berkeley are some of the most welcoming and supportive environments for 1Ls that I've visited/seen.
I also think UVA and Michigan have terrific QOL.

+1. NorCal is the best, and the Yale students I've met are all incredibly friendly (probably due to the lack of grades).Kretzy wrote:As someone planning on going to SLS, I think Yale, Stanford, and Berkeley are some of the most welcoming and supportive environments for 1Ls that I've visited/seen.

How is Duke not in this thread yet? We are the chillest law school, by far.

Re: Chillest top law schools
Having dated a Yale 1L, and spent a decent amount of time with one of the big sections at Yale, they are lovely, wonderful folks. I'd add Texas and Michigan to my list, plus I know great folks at NYU, Columbia and Penn (a function of doing collegiate debate).BioEBear2010 wrote:+1. Re: Chillest top law schools
I have a hard time disassociating my hatred for the Cameron Crazies from the law school itself. To a lot of people, it's, well, it's Duke - and that is a negative emphasis. No offense, and I know I'm not making myself look like a rational human being here. I'm sure Duke is awesome, but there's always that but...prezidentv8 wrote:How is Duke not in this thread yet? For T1, I'd definitely think Colorado. Especially if you're looking for good outdoors stuff. Yes?
