GULC PT v. W&L $24k/year
GULC is my only choice in the T14; W&L is the only school that offered me any money. How do these compare? I'd like to work in government.

If debt doesn't bother you then GULC. I personally would take W&L.

If you want to work in government, the choice should be really easy.

GULC, easy. Their LRAP is off the chain.

You mean choosing Georgetown? Or choosing the lower-cost school? I will be borrowing everything.tallboone wrote:If you want to work in government, the choice should be really easy.

If you're really set on going into government then GULC is the right choice. They currently have one of the best LRAPs in the country which pretty much amounts to: if you make less than $75,000 a year you don't pay back anything on your loans and after 10 years they are completely forgiven. The risk of course is twofold. 1) You decide you don't like working for government and want to get into the private sector. 2) You aren't able to find government work. In either situation you would then be forced to pay up on all your loans.WhyBother? wrote:GULC is my only choice in the T14; W&L is the only school that offered me any money. How do these compare? GULC hands down. You also limit your debt through working. Factoring in your salary over 4 years, GULC is probably the same price.
I'm a GULC 3L who started in the PT program if you have any questions.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. My main concern is the with the new loan repayment guidelines, government jobs will be nearly impossible to get. At the Admitted Students Day, everyone seemed to intend to go into the public sector to take advantage of the program. It's been similar at every ASD/ASW I've attended so far. With every financial aid office and career center pushing these jobs- will there be enough to go around? It seems to me like eligible public sector jobs might become the most competitive.
