LSU vs UF
I recieved a full ride to LSU and only half tuition at UF, I'm torn between the two. LSU's contingency for keeping the offer was ver minimal while UF's is much higher. Any thoughts, which would you choose?

I think it depends on where you want to work. If Florida, then UF. If Louisiana, then LSU. I definitely wouldn't go to LSU looking to practice outside of Louisiana. Having said that, some of those at the top of the class do get jobs in Houston and Dallas, but it is not something you should bank on.

I don't think I would mind working in New Orleans, Houston, or Dallas. I've lived in Florida for sometime and like it. That being said I actually want to practice in France, and the DCL LSU offers was my whole reason for applying, I felt it might help for practicing abroad but I'm not sure. LSU according to their site however does seem to have ok numbers of alums in TX FL and surprisingly CA

I'd take LSU if you're looking for the above.

yea I was surprised about their alum locations but I geuss huge schools with a great deal of spirit seem to send their grads pretty far regardless of rank. I would never want to work in the north so a big southern school was my desire.missvik218 wrote:. I have a 3L friend at LSU who is heading to Austin after grad (she had an offer in FL as well, but picked the TX one). But I think she was pretty high in her class.Cestjustemoi wrote:I don't think I would mind working in New Orleans, Houston, or Dallas. I've lived in Florida for sometime and like it. However, based on scholarships, contingencies and what you want to do with your degree, LSU is the better choice.

I've been almost in the same boat, except LSU vs Miami. I have no desire to practice in France. I wouldn't mind the state of LA or Florida for that matter. Tough decisions. Still waiting to hear back from some other schools but if I had to choose now I would go with LSU.
Ditto on not wanting to be at a northern school. I don't need to deal with those winters.

I've spent a good amount of time in Miami and I honestly have no idea how anyone can study there, it's too distracting. Furthermore housing is astronomical, and traffic is horrible if you choose to live in a cheaper area. I didn't even apply there for that reason. As of right now withholding anymore money from UF or a full ride from FSU, and to be honest I don't even know if a full ride could tempt me to live in Tallenasty for that long, I plan on going to LSU. That all being said the best advice I have hard thus far is that there is no wrong decision, the schools name is only a minimal aspect, personal achievement is much more vital. Good luck let me know where you end up going!darknightbegins wrote:I've been almost in the same boat, except LSU vs Miami. I have no desire to practice in France. Yeah I've heard Coral Gabels pricing is certainly high. Although it is Miami, that is a big attraction. But Baton Rouge isn't a bad place and the Gulf Shores are relatively close by. I'm leaning toward LSU right now, do you know how difficult it is for out of state people to get in-state residency for tuition after the first year?

I have no idea the scholarship they gave me covers non resident fee. I would look up the statute regarding residency for tuition purposes. I do remember reading that you needed to prove intent to remain in LA which would be determined by evidence such as registrations and the best option buying a house. I would just call the office honestly even as a non resident the tuition isn't half as bad as some schools up north such as Rutgers which is 20 for instaters.darknightbegins wrote:Yeah I've heard Coral Gabels pricing is certainly high.
