These forums have been helpful reading in the past so thought I would try a post. I Received a full ride to Texas Tech University, and partial scholarship to St. Louis University reducing total tuition to 15k/ year. Any thoughts on taking the money at a T3 (TTU) vs 66-80k debt for bottom "T-1/T-2" (94 "ranked" SLU). I love both states, could practice in both. Does SLU have anything to justify the difference?
PS: I know Lubbock SUCKS, but not enough to justify paying 15k/ year unless SLU has something else to offer that Texas does not.
Thoughts?

I'd say Texas Tech (even though Lubbock does suck). Their job placement is better than their ranking, or lack of, would suggest. They don't place many people in biglaw jobs in the big cities, but they do pretty well in smaller cities around Texas. Plus, the difference between not being ranked and being ranked 94 is not a big deal, and 45K is a nice chunk of change. Of course I know a lot more about Texas schools than I do about SLU, so they could have a lot of stuff to offer that I don't know about.

SLU does very well in Saint Louis. Neither degree has a ton of portability, but chances at midlaw are probably better from SLU. Tech competes with UT, SMU, and Baylor. SLU only has WUSTL in its immediate region (the vast, vast majority of nearby schools like UIUC feed into Chicago), and the alumni base at SLU will be sufficient to get a good student a good job in Saint Louis. That being said, this one probably comes down to where you want to live. Both are region-only schools for the most part. Personally, I'd go SLU for QOL and the probability of better job prospects, but if I had ties in Texas I might feel differently.

When did you get your notice for your SLU scholarship? I am still waiting to hear back re: the scholarship piece,..received my acceptance about three weeks ago,..but you are the first that I've seen who has received their scholarship notice already.
