WUSTL vs. Minnesota
Got into both, so far no money from either though WUSTL said I was being "considered" for some scholarship.
I'd like to go into what's virtual law or cyberlaw, which probably has more to do with IP than anything else, more interested in the civil rights perspective on it. Dream job would be working for the Center for Democracy and Technology, or Electronic Frontier Foundation. Oh. And I'm from NY. So no in-state (at least the first year) for me at Minnesota.
Thanks!

I would also love a more general consideration of the choice b/w these two.

Re: WUSTL vs. Minnesota
I'd say go to WUSTL unless you want to work in Minnesota or the money is much better. It just moves a bit better. But don't go to WUSTL if you won't risk ending up in STL; never go to Minn if you don't want to risk ending up in MSP. Both dominate their home markets.
Per NALP, over half of Minn grads stay in West North Central versus around a quarter of WUSTL grads. WUSTL grads proportionally more likely to go to NYC, DC or CHI. Difference isn't huge, but it's there.
Edit - Nothing to add re tech law.

Also, per your intended career, I remember WUSTL has several DC programs, and I'm guessing EFF is headquartered there. You might check into their DC externship thing and see what Minn has to offer in that regard.

Does this apply even if I'm a big hockey fan?

Huge NHL fan.
Cant imagine going to a city w/o an NHL team. Even though the Blues are kinda sucky, id still go out and watch.

+1 to the hockey comments. Seriously...the school has it's own hockey team!

I remember Blues fans being fairly common back when I lived in STL. Lots of 'bleed blue' commercials and stuff. Doubt it exceeds MN, though.
I've heard the Predators have a rabid fan base, which was unexpected.

As would I. Anything in re: First Amendment / civil liberties PI would be appreciated as well.xanderdellus wrote:I would also love a more general consideration of the choice b/w these two.

O geez- 1/5 here. Called them and they said no decision was made on my file. I expect some movement this week tho. Don't they say theyll get all their decisions out by mid march?Slimpee wrote:we're probably in the same boat. I am very interested in a comparison b/w these two schools as well as I might be applying to either for a "backup transfer" school.
