Very little movement in the rankings

Post by NosferatuDracon » Tue Jan 12, 2010 5:40 pm

Just curious to get some insight from the community over all what makes some schools rankings fluctuate often, and others that don't.

I was again looking at the prelaw handbook at past rankings and noticed that for example in the past 10 years William and Mary's ranking has changed almost none at all. Minnesota is another that has remained largely unmoved.

Do these schools just maintain a certain standard and never change? I mean the rankings formula changes almost every year at least a little bit I imagine so what gives that these schools are very consistent?

Nope, doesn't matter at all. Just curious as to whether or not there was a reason for it.

Seems to me that ITE rankings could mean a lot more to people, and since some schools tend to move as much as ten ranks any given year, ones that are more stable would lead to believe they are a more sure investment of ones time and money.

That's really the only possible reason I could find for this to matter.

Personally I just find it interesting. Do these schools recruit differently than others? or something along those lines.

Stats move when you game them.

Law schools are fair and honest folk who would never try and manipulate stats unfairly.
