Re: 2013 Rankings
I know rankings don't mean shit, but what about for negation purposes?
Say I'm trying to use a nice scholarship offer from a school that everyone Is saying "lol at how high they're," to get a scholly offer from a school that everyone Is laughing at how low they're.
Will the rise in the one / drop in the other help my case?

Yeah, that was a pretty dumb post. UIUC has been in the t25 for just as long...until yesterday.drleather wrote:Minnesota has been in the top 25 for the last 25 years, or thereabouts.jne381 wrote:I swear, every year one of the Big Ten schools that is not Mich or NU makes a jump into the top 25 then drops the next year.
It is like they all take a turn.
Wisconsin
Iowa
Illinois
Indiana
Minnesota gets its turn this year.
Next year will probably go to Ohio State.

For instance, I don't think Arizona State is gonna help you squeeze money out of BU.ThreeRivers wrote:I know rankings don't mean shit, but what about for negation purposes?

Well you should definitely try but I wouldn't count on it. Despite the new rankings BU is a much better school than W&L.ThreeRivers wrote: Lol, what about Washington & lee for Bu? (im also saying umn, but was hoping w&l passing it up as well in rankings might help me out

Lost in all this mess is this... For most of our purposes, this is the only ranking that matters. Law firms are more likely to base their hiring decisions of their own opinions, not some stupid publication.srfngdd6 wrote:Jaeger wrote:Tom Joad wrote:Is it OK to reference Michigan's fall to 10 when I withdraw this week?

U.S. News and World Reports is the foremost authority in determining law school excellence. I rest my argument on the shoulders of giants.TTRansfer wrote:JobzTom Joad wrote:[citation needed]minnbills wrote:Well you should definitely try but I wouldn't count on it. No Fordham? Is this surprising or no? I feel like the only thing Fordham has going for it is that it has infiltrated many top firms with partners in NYC over the years.ScrabbleChamp wrote:Lost in all this mess is this... Wrong. Harvard is #1 in Peer Assessment and Lawyer/Judge Assessment. Yale and Stanford are tied for second in both.lessthanjake wrote: - I can't imagine Stanford got higher scores in the Peer Assessment and Lawyer/Judge Assessment than Harvard. Harvard is Harvard and as such usually ties with Yale for the highest scores in these, right?

Not sure a survey of 90 hiring partners from disparate parts of the country (who likely just serve as an echoing chamber for USNWR rankings of schools that aren't in their area) is a useful ranking system.ScrabbleChamp wrote:Lost in all this mess is this... And these numbers tend not to fit in with the NLJ 250 hiring numbers, like how Penn and G-Town are ranked at 13 together while Penn had almost twice the percentage of its class entering NLJ 250 firms that Georgetown does (though that might be in part self selection but...)bk187 wrote:Not sure a survey of 90 hiring partners from disparate parts of the country (who likely just serve as an echoing chamber for USNWR rankings of schools that aren't in their area) is a useful ranking system.ScrabbleChamp wrote:Lost in all this mess is this... "TU Law Breaks Into Top 100 in U.S. News & World Report 2013 Best Law School Rankings
Among the smallest law schools in the nation, TU Law advances 48 places in three years
TULSA, OK – For the first time in its history, The University of Tulsa College of Law has been named in the top 100 law schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report 2013 Best Graduate Schools rankings. As one of the smallest law schools in the country, TU Law has advanced 48 places in the last three years in the rankings, which are based on several factors including an overall quality assessment, reputation, selectivity of student applications, job placement success and faculty resources.
In each category, TU Law has earned significant gains in recent years through focused efforts to attract qualified applicants, refining curriculum to prepare students to practice immediately upon graduation, and provide meaningful professional experiences to students during their legal education.
