U-Washington is by far the big winner this year. Arizona St. improved by 14 spots, but UW made the most significant change. Top-20 is only a notch below T14. A lot of people don't know that U-Washington was #23 at one time. The significant thing about U-Washington being #20 is that it's in a very desirable major city with relatively low cost of living.
Their applications are going to skyrocket next year, and that could push them even higher...#17 or so. They have been increasingly getting more and more apps from top students.

I give this year a 167. No rankings-induced meltdown that involved a poster trying to get TLS into legal trouble because of anger over how his school was 'on the decline' and ended in a perma-ban, so hard to see it cracking the 170s. Curve is set to high. But the "we get it rad, no one takes it seriously" posts alternating with the "why did H fall below S, I thought their spending per student rates were the same?!" posts was pretty good.Adm.Doppleganger wrote:i love rankings day
Yes,Columbia has a basketball team. They even have a football team! They play in the sports league known as the ivy league.Jaeger wrote:sparty99 wrote:Columbia doesn't have a basketball team bro....
They'd need to start letting in a lot more URMs before that could happen.
So really, the true rankings are:sparty99 wrote:The Real T14:
1 Kentucky (61)
2 Syracuse (1)
3 Missouri (2)
4 North Carolina (1)
5 Michigan State
6 Kansas
7 Ohio State
8 Duke
9 Baylor
10 Florida State
11 Marquette
12 Murray State
13 Michigan
14 Wisconsin

The apocalypse has struck. Cornell can never come back from this death knell. It will undoubtedly sink into obscurity, a la 'nova. Your best bet is to buy a rising stock, think IPO!, and that golden, flaming rocket, drunk on vainglory for the top spot, is Arizona State.sangr wrote:how does the future look for
1.GW
2. Cornell
GW has risen in ranks over the past ten years, cornell fell 1 or 2 spots

Minnesota has been in the top 25 for the last 25 years, or thereabouts.jne381 wrote:I swear, every year one of the Big Ten schools that is not Mich or NU makes a jump into the top 25 then drops the next year.
It is like they all take a turn.
Wisconsin
Iowa
Illinois
Indiana
Minnesota gets its turn this year.
Next year will probably go to Ohio State.

Yeah, USNWR put a bunch of arbitrary numbers in a big coal-fired machine and turned the magic lever.Susan_Walid wrote:Can anyone explain Tennessee's huge drop, and Lewis and Clark's jump?
