This might be the dumbest shit I've ever read. You truly are the shining example of the perfect snowflake carried in on the back of a unicorn.
Wow... Just wow... So what's the theory here... The other attorneys on here and myself are what, discouraging you from going to law school because you're just too brilliant and we don't want you coming along to steal our jobs? We're limiting competition? What's the motivation?
Wow. Just wow.

You are on point - everything you just wrote is valid. But my point is that you just don't know for sure if the people on here who say they are attorneys are in fact attorneys. Speaking to someone who you trust who is in the legal field is definitely qualified and can guide you the right way.sublimation wrote:When it comes to legal employment-itsallgood_man wrote:I always find it weird to see people who are attorneys warning us about law school in general. People whose opinion I trust the most:People whose opinion means very little:
- Attorneys who have graduated most recently to today
- Attorneys who are opinionated enough to post on online media
People whose opinions mean nothing:
- Attorneys who graduated before this century
- Current law students

The people on here who say they're attorneys (and post regularly) actually are attorneys. Many of them are people who went through the application process/law school/etc on the same timeline and are still here.
But "I don't know they're attorneys" also isn't the same argument as "it's weird that attorneys are warning us away from law school." Frankly, almost every attorney I know tells people not to go to law school.

Its just something to consider. Why would an actual attorney, who should have a busy schedule with a career that requires a JD and bar passage, be on here putting his/her two cents when they get $0 return from those posts? To take the time away from work and (maybe) family/friends to fill up space caring what decisions you are going to make without even knowing you? Take anyone's opinion for that matter, but just thought I should throw that out in the open.BigZuck wrote:Selfless vigilante?

TLS does have addictive qualities.
I wonder sometimes why folks frequent these parts and choose to insult the misinformed or those who don't agree with them, but I also wonder why we park on driveways and drive on parkways.
I do think that most TLSers have a sincere desire to help folks, though. When you see someone like Zuck, or Splitter, or Nony posting, you know it's going to be good, thoughtful advice.

Yes, doesn't hurt to ask. But I am not going to take your or anyone's opinion as a final word of advise. The only thing I have going in my favor is that I've never claimed to be a lawyer, whereas Nony and Tiago pretend to be a lawyer constantly

There are plenty of other folks 'round these parts who offer good advice as well, and those who care about the chance their advice is followed share their thoughts without resorting to sarcasm or calling people dumb.
At the end of the day, if you want to pursue bad risks and go to schools based on inaccurate information and unrealistic expectations, that's your business. But at least by getting some thoughts here, you have a chance to challenge some of your assumptions and get more information.

Re: Students/prospective students of Brooklyn Law School (BLS) - HUGE drop in 2017 rankings
HI there,
Super random but just needed to post on any thread as I have a general question anyone may be able to answer...
I recently received a letter in the mail from a school I applied to, and it was THICK
Sadly it was not a thick acceptance letter but instead it was a letter telling me I needed to complete the given paperwork to confirm my residency in that state..
They concluded their request by stating I simply just need to complete the paperwork they sent me in the same envelope before a certain date and they should be able to confirm my residency after doing so.
So, my question is...is this a process of acceptance? Or should I not be reading into this so much?
My thought process is why would they send me this and go through all this work to confirm my in-state residency if they were not thinking about accepting me? If they do this for all students then that is a waste of time and effort if they were to continue on and deny students.
All in all, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!

that statement is easily supported by an enormous amount of evidence. That evidence is easily accessible to anyone who has access to the internet (who can read)
please try to engage your critical thinking

You'll get the best answer by posting this question in the applicants thread for your school. If the school you're talking about is Michigan, I think everyone they've asked to do this has been admitted. But, again, for the best answer post in your school's applicant thread.futurELLEwoods wrote:

To Itsallgood_man:
1) To be "accredited" as a lawyer on TLS I sent a picture of my NY Atty ID card to a Mod from my law firm e-mail account. And there are a half dozen posters or so on here that I've corresponded with over the years outside of TLS. That I am a licensed attorney is pretty clear.
2) How should I respond to the age old argument that "Succesful lawyers are too busy to post on here." This is s gem of an argument and novel too. You might be, perhaps, the 3000th 0L to raise it. What would dispel that for you, my salary, the size of my firm, number of decisions.. What would do it for you? Or maybe, just maybe, it's more simple than that. Maybe just like surgeons don't cut people all day and porn stars don't fuck all 24 hours in a day, maybe, messing around on TLS a few minutes a week isn't that much of a waste of time. Maybe my less than 3000 posts in close to 10 years isn't all that excessive. And maybe I don't mind rolling out some real advise or interjecting a perspective that's based on real world experience into a forum that is sometimes dominated by rank speculation. And maybe I don't mind giving advise when asked. I do this for graduates and students of my law school that contact me through the alumni finder at my school, I do it through PMs here where people have specific questions about salaries and firms. What's wrong with that?
So what's your problem brah?
