snm263 hasn't gotten around to dominating the upper half of the T14 yet. But once that happens, Columbia will seem like chump change.A. Nony Mouse wrote:You get that bagel goes to Columbia, right?snm263 wrote: Sooo silly, silliest thing I've ever hear. Where do I ever get such absurd ideas?

Re: Chicago/Penn/Berkeley
I doubt that folks follow up on threads, but wanted to throw a thanks out for the advice anyways. Though I accept that my original post sounded very naive (I promise that COA/debt were important factors in my decision; yes, I understand clerking is a longshot; yes, I will think hard about pursuing biglaw), I stand by my question of what role, if any, "culture" plays into the decision-making process.
FWIW, I visited all three schools as serious contenders. Did not like the "culture" at Berk (maybe I'm more muesli than granola after all), liked Penn, and loved Chi. Disappointingly, did not get any $$ from Penn. I did get a nice-enough scholly from Chi to make it feasible.
I am now happily committed at Chicago and riding out WLs at Harvard and Columbia. All in all, very happy - so thanks, tls!
