WUSTL people can obviously answer this better, but KC and STL are very insular markets and there aren't a lot of spots there period (although it's kind of a big market given the pop size). I know people w/ decent grades at t14s w/ strong STL ties that had tough sledding there.

Yeah, this thread is just brimming with derp. California Biglaw from Notre Dame? StL Biglaw with no StL connect? Wtf. OP needs to lower sights or retake.
