That list illustrates why I thinking including school-funded can be misleading.

Can you edit that so it doesn't screw up the whole page?

Just a suggestion on the chart. If someone is in a part time or short term position, you have then categorized as both unemployed - in the first column -- and in a school funded position - in the second column. It seems the school funded jobs should be a subset of those you are counting as employed, rather than, as here a subset of those who are either counted as employed or unemployed.

You should either limit the school funded numbers to those full time, long term JD required or preferred positions; or, alternatively, you should exclude from the unemployed numbers those who are in short term or part time positions.

I appreciate the breakdown, but it's still deceptive for future students. Example: Michigan has a high "unemployment score" yet it sent students from the class of 2013 to the following employers:

....

I understand that these aren't legal position, but many law students would prefer these positions over big law gigs. Can LSN, Associate Minds, etc. come up with a way to quantify these non-legal but still 'desirable' jobs?
I'm not sure what you're trying to argue here. The jobs you cited are not being included in the gross unemployment figure for Mich. Gross unemployment in no way refers to "non-legal" jobs. It refers specifically to people who are completely unemployed or underemployed in short term/part time work.

^ Exactly. Those desirable JD-advantage jobs at Michigan are not included in the LST Employment Score or the LST Under-Employment Score.

PS, bl1nds1ght, thanks for all of the help you provide users on Reddit. I've had a few people tell me how helpful you are, and I've seen it for myself too.

ABA considering not allowing schools to report school-funded jobs as FTLT

This might affect some LST numbers http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog ... -may-.html

Yep. LST supports this proposal. We will eliminate school-funded jobs from the Employment Score if this passes.

Are you worried it will keep schools from offering the jobs in the first place?

Yes, absolutely. It will separate the good intentions from the bad ones, though.

Best guess, first week of May. Hoping for end of April.

How are in-house positions factored into this graph?

Which graph?

In-house positions (are rare and) are categorized as "business."

Gotcha. I was referring to the graph that 09042014 posted above. I guess that graphd oesn't include the "business" category. I was just curious because in-house positions directly out of law school seem to be getting more common.

So this further proves that US news ranking for Law school isn't all accurate... there are schools which are doing amazing but their ranking is so low... aka Seton Hall Law for example.
