Heard from an honors attorney that for DOJ Honors litigation positions, Michigan had the biggest showing this year. My sense is that HYS helps, but it is no guarantee and might not be worth $$.

Yeah, Sarah Zearfoss emailed me saying, "So, here’s a fun fact I just learned: Of the 1000+ applications for 6 civil rights DOJ Honors spots this year, Michigan Law students took 4 of them! Not bad."oppotomus wrote:Heard from an honors attorney that for DOJ Honors litigation positions, Michigan had the biggest showing this year. But is this necessarily true? I only had a 164 and yet I was a soft hold at SLS until about a week ago, and I was put on the WL for Chicago and Columbia. Law school predictor basically said I had no shot at T-14. I know it's still a long shot but I do think my softs give me SOME wiggle room.Nelson wrote:A shot, but not a good one.ssanonymous wrote:Yeah... it's really tough. If I somehow got a 172+ with a 3.76 GPA, would i have any shot at HYS?
Sans softs, a person with a 3.76 would need like... 175 for HYS?

173 would have some shot, 174 would be over 50% at HLS. It sounds like your softs are legit if you did that well with 164. BTW someone (non-URM) with like a 166 got into HLS this year but he was a non-trad/active-duty veteran so obviously special circumstances.ssanonymous wrote:But is this necessarily true?
