Ya not sure how manageable it would be after cost of living and interest, but I thought I read your parents are covering it anyways. Just become a resident ASAP, also plan on doing legal work for little or no money. I'm pretty sure CUNY is super cheap because Public Interest Lawyers would all default on students loans otherwise.

also the flame/troll thing is annoying. There are seriously people like the OP... and that's not a joke.

They're helping me cause I was a good boy and got a full scholarship to undergrad. But I'm paying very low rent and have a decent amount saved! And no worries, I'm not planning on getting a biglaw job or anything, I actually want to be a public defender and then maybe start my own practice or something (like Mickey Haller). And yeah, this is NOT a flame!

Isn't this a year old? Didn't OP say he was going to CUNY so he would have finished 1L? If I have the timing wrong, please keep us updated OP.

Close, I posted this right after junior year of college, so I'm about to start at CUNY. And yes it's a year old.

I share and live in Briarwood, and obviously, cheap is a relative term.

OP's got a point. That's probably the best way to go to law school...just not giving a f*ck! The guy might go to some TTTT, not give a f*ck, get all A's and wind up at a T14. He might not give a f*ck there and graduate near the top of the class. He won't give a f*ck during his interviews and be lucky enough to run into the incarnation of Harvey from Suits. Harvey will hire OP to work at Wachtell at $250K plus bonus (the only such salary given out that year), and OP still won't give a f*ck.

He'll show up late every day, keep mis-filing work and sexually harass a coworker, some rich daddy's girl whose father - a managing partner at Watchtel who happens to love OP's slacker attitude - is about to croak. OP will marry the daughter. Daddy will leave the couple everything he owns (including a $500M fourtune), but not before sliding OP through the fast track to partner. OP will take some of that not hard-earned money and buy two powerball tickets...he'll win the largest jackpot ever and gain another $600M. OP will still not give a f*ck because he's a billionaire who's set for life.

Is my scenario crazy? I don't give a f*ck.

LOL That was amusing!

To the OP:

I guess I was in a similar situation as you. I had a 3.25 gpa and a 157 LSAT. I got into NYLS...to my dismay, I met some of the other student's who would be in my class. It was a serious wake-up call. I was looking at making partner at either a law firm or consulting firm. I knew NYLS wasn't a school that would get me to where I wanted. I decided not to go to NYLS, get my shit straight and take the LSAT again. Hoping to get into a school that would give me a better chance at partner. A year later I got a 165 LSAT, same gpa since I already graduated.

Now, I have a decision between ASU law or W&L law. Granted they aren't T14 or anything. But, hell of a lot better than NYLS or in your case CUNY. I was in NY to see different law schools there. CUNY seems...how do I put it gently? A school for the hard headed and, comparatively speaking, a wooden shack.

Good morning everyone! Thanks for the great responses.

Hank Chill: ?
PDaddy: That sounds like a good plan, I think I'd get along well with Harvey from suits.
AZAsian: What didn't you like about your NYLS classmates? And why do you think CUNY is for the "hard headed"?
