Yeah, it's from that UCLA LR article that's always bandied about in the affirmative action threads. Pretty crazy shit, if you ask me.

Disclaimer: this reply contains no implied judgments as to the value of affirmative action, merely flabbergastation.

This. If you can't get a job out of Harvard, it's not because you don't have options; it's because you're being snobbish about the options you have.

Having a ton of low passes on your transcript isn't promising. (Although I think they got rid of it this past year.) I think a Harvard JD with bad grades (i.e. straight passes or low passes) can get "a job," just maybe not a legal job, especially now.

LPs aren't mandatory, but they still exist. I doubt that in the future they will occur frequently enough to give a student more than one or two.

Alright, but having straight "passes" from Harvard can't look good either.

Makes perfect sense. Why pay a HLS bottom 1/3 grad 145-160k when you can most likely hire a regional top 25 grad top 1/3 of class for 100k? (sorry for shorthand) It's a bad time for everyone. I can only imagine the number of senior associates severanced out for 20-somethings earning half their pay.

Yes, this is how big law firms structure their pay scales.
