WUSTL ranks higher than Illinois but i kind of feel that Illinois has a better reputation and the fact that it is places very well in the chicago market makes it a better choice. Any ideas on this?

UIUC is probably the better choice if you want Chicago, WUSTL for pretty much anywhere else.

What kind of internships are L1s getting at your school? to your knowledge, how does the breakdown between paid vs unpaid and the type of employer looks like.

I keep hearing about how hard it is to get a paid L1 internship but i keep meeting people from 20-30 and even T2 schools who are not top 10% and are doing internships in firms and Fortune 500 companies making 30k+ for the summer.

I'm not saying that it is an easy thing to get, but it doesn't seem as impossible as people here make it sound to be. I would really like to have a paid L1 summer thing so I can paid some loans with that and worry less about this stupid loans.
