Law School deans have them (I do not). But I do know based on a VERY brief email I just received that at first glance there were no major, or indeed perhaps no, methodological changes. So I do not anticipate anything crazy outside of perhaps a few schools not gaming this year and a few schools gaming to the nth degree.

Well, I think there may have been some employment changes in the methodology but until I actually see the rankings I don't want to guess.

I imagine they will be leaked by someone in the next few hours as historically that seems par for the course.

Why does Michigan constantly out-rank Northwestern? The latter has way better job placement. I personally view Michigan as being a lower T14 while Northwestern has the feel of a middle T14. Anyone know what accounts for US News ranking them higher?

I think we can all agree that if a graduate is able to secure a position at any hard to attain PI job (whether that's 100% of all PI jobs, or 90%, etc.), said graduate would have been able to attain biglaw and/or an AIII clerkship.

Big firms look at two things primarily - grades/ties

Public interest orgs may care about grades to some degree, but depending on who is doing the hiring, commitment and experience may be more valuable as well as network to even get you the interview

When people say ties are they just referring to where you're from? (i.e. if you're from New York originally and have family there you have a way better shot at getting a NYC BigLaw job than someone who is originally from Maryland)

NYC is actually where ties matter the least, if at all. If you were born and raised NYC you are actually at a disadvantage compared to everyone else, as you have no ties to secondary markets.

Class of 2015 medians took a pretty good hit. That certainly didn't help. As I've read elsewhere though, it's hard to believe Illinois would drop any lower than Wisconsin or Ohio State given their similar medians but UIUCs superior placement.

What is the story with UIUC and this "gaming" everyone is speaking of? Is it one of those things where everyone probably does it, but UIUC were the only ones to get caught? I know Baylor got in trouble a while back, but I don't know the stories behind these schools.
