I've never understood how 0Ls (or at least most of them) could possibly know that they're interested in clerking.

I wouldn't say that I know that I want to clerk, but, at this point, it sounds interesting to me.existentialcrisis wrote:I've never understood how 0Ls (or at least most of them) could possibly know that they're interested in clerking.

edit: to answer OPs question, if you're ok w/ debt. Go to Harvard (more open doors). If not, go to NW. Either way, my advice is to buy a warm jacket at llbean.com

Re: Harvard ($) vs Northwestern ($$$$)
Just wanted to echo this. Very anecdotal obviously, but my friends have had the same experience. I think you'll find that, at least at NU, a fairly small portion of the class applies for clerkships. 3L at NU, for what its worth. As someone facing similar debt upon graduation to what you'd have from Harvard, I'd lean towards going to Northwestern. You'd probably be paying ~$1700 a month in loan payments with that amount of debt, where as you could be putting that money into savings (about $20k a year) if you didn't take out the debt. I don't think you can go wrong with these two options, but that's my two cents.kcdc1 wrote:Clerking is pretty attainable from NU too. My friends who were interested in clerking mostly got good offers.

This poll will take 2 more weeks until we have a clear winner. We may need a recount a la Bush v Gore.
