former student of mine is at umich and struck out above median, says he knows lots of people still without offers
i just e-mailed him this thread, will be very interested to hear what he thinks of your 94% oci success rate estimation for umich
(which is higher than CCN btw)

People strike out a HLS, so I'm not surprised that someone above median struck out at M. OTOH, I know lots of people well below median who got BL.

I offered my data with the proviso that it was anecdotal, and converting it into a percentage claim is exactly the kind of aspieness that doesn't play well at OCI. Did more than five people strike out in my section? Probably. But not enough to challenge my claim that the overwhelming majority of Michigan 2Ls got BL SAs this past cycle. I just know the destination of too many of my classmates for there to be more hidden strike outs in my section.

Again, if you know you only want NYC BL, then Penn or Cornell is a great choice that probably beats Michigan on that metric. But beware of measuring law schools by such a narrow metric: if you are interested in government work or several markets or PI, Michigan is an objectively better choice than the rest of the bottom half of the T14.

hey guys mich's objectively terrible employment stats are because of public interest!*

*ignores pi+gov't was ~10% until the recession/post-recession when mich stopped placing well in the private-sector, unlike actual pi schools like berk and nyu, which actually have significant self-selection out of oci

How does citing 2014 numbers refute my claim that M's numbers have improved in the last two OCI classes (which are almost 25% smaller in a better economy)?

Some of you seem to be invested in M's alleged decline, which is weird. But I'm sure that normal folks will take my points: that Michigan's numbers have improved, and that it's a school that serves lots of people with different goals very well—hardly a school in steep decline, lol.

2014 job stats = entering class of 2011

entering class of 2011 = 359

25% of 359 = 90

shrinkage from entering class of 2011 to entering class of 2014 = 41
