I apologize for the mis-tabulation, but the point is still there: UT eats UA's lunch with respect to legal employment.stasg wrote:Based on your own link UA's BigLaw+Fed Clerkship number is actually 33 / 171 = 19.3%.BasilHallward wrote:I don't know what to say about this comment. UA and UT are not on the same playing field. Anyone who thinks so is crazy. Case in point:
http://www.utexas.edu/law/career/prospe ... A-2014.pdf
http://www.law.ua.edu/wp-content/upload ... ummary.pdf
BigLaw+Fed Clerkship: UA=30/171= 17.5%
UT=163/351= 46.5%
The numbers speak for themselves. Friends don't let friends fall for the "UA is a top law school with national reach" line.

I still get 30/171 from the employment data, but it's not worth arguing over.

10 in firms of 101-250. 10 in firms of 251-500. 5 in firms of 501+. 8 in federal clerkships. 10 + 10 + 5 + 8 = 33.BasilHallward wrote:I still get 30/171 from the employment data, but it's not worth arguing over.

My bad. Yes, if we count short term gigs, then UA has 33/171.

I don't know how someone gets a short-term gig at a biglaw firm but that's a fair point.BasilHallward wrote:stasg wrote:10 in firms of 101-250. 10 in firms of 251-500. 5 in firms of 501+. 8 in federal clerkships. 10 + 10 + 5 + 8 = 33.BasilHallward wrote:I still get 30/171 from the employment data, but it's not worth arguing over.

LST says 12.9 + 4.7 which equals 17.6. That isn't right?

Meh, that's right if you don't count the short-term people. I was just looking in the total column on the right.BigZuck wrote:LST says 12.9 + 4.7 which equals 17.6. That isn't right?

OP here. Just wanted to let you all know that I ended up retaking and getting +4 up to a 168. I'm very excited for this admissions cycle and hopefully some better financial aid offers. Thanks for the advice, even if it wasn't what I exactly wanted to hear.
