There were more than enough 173 applicants for them to maintain that median. I believe they may have even retained the luxury of rejecting a few.
In fact, according to
this post, the median LSAT for all applicants reporting acceptances at Harvard on LSN actually went up one from last cycle. There's just no way they went down to 172.

UGA: 163 (-1) 3.69 (+.02), 201 students (+12)
UGA's class is mostly in staters who get dirt cheap tuition (17k), so me thinks them losing a point doesn't bode well for others T1s with 45k+ tuition

UCLA median down to 167. I think they gave up at the last second and just admitted a bunch of people of the waitlist for revenue reasons, they could have had a 168 if they kept the class to about 280.

I think UCLA lost a ton of OOS applicants but still have the entire UC system. I would think a school like Vanderbilt that doesn't have a local feeder would get hit hard.

They admitted a couple of 166s of the waitlist late according to LSN so it's probably down from 167 to 166.

Vandy's median went from 169 --> 167. Can't remember GPA median. I noticed quite a lot of low lsat wait list admits.

They dropped class size too, lower than the previous 9 years (last year was lower than the previous 8 )

So far it looks like Duke has been the only school to see an increase in apps?

Duke says that it's one of 7 schools to have an increase in apps. I'm sure most of the other schools are state flagships, but who knows.

Priority Review was a great idea for them. I wasn't 100% set on applying until I got it.

My guess would be that Alabama is one of those 7.

What do you think comes next? They can't sustain their faculty etc at this rate.

Wow. I figured it would be rough when I received "invitation to apply for scholarship this fall" in like July.

Do they have a large faculty or do they rely on adjuncts in large part?

They have an 11.7 to 1 student-faculty ratio, which is somewhat lower than the average of around 14 to 1. They've already announced cuts in staff and adjuncts, but of course that's not where the big money is. I don't know their precise tenure rules, but at most universities you can't lay off tenured or even tenure-track faculty without declaring a financial emergency, which naturally is a last resort, since doing so risks creating a death spiral of bad publicity. But if their class is down by more than 50% they may soon have no other choice.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
