Someone told me my combative attitude entrenched people in their bad decisions because they feel attacked by me.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:You've been away too long. People are absolutely this retarded.IAFG wrote:Since no one is actually this retarded, OP is definitely a flame.

On some level I don't feel bad. They deserve it. I'm not really trying to save the morons, anyway. I am trying to save the lurking fence-sitters.

Don't feel bad. Whoever told you that is an idiot. No one ever continued to make bad decisions because someone told them they were making bad decisions, no matter how abrasive or sweet a way it was said.IAFG wrote:Someone told me my combative attitude entrenched people in their bad decisions because they feel attacked by me.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:You've been away too long. Good advice saves lives if people can see past their own butthurt and see it's merit. People are just too goddamn sensitive.

One of the single biggest factors in my life. When I found TLS I was wooed by the fake employment numbers, I was safety for Cardozo or Brooklyn and hoping for fordham. I was happy with my 164, and convinced to apply last cycle. TLS quite possibly saved my life. Screw the haters.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:Don't feel bad. Whoever told you that is an idiot. When the person giving advice seems unreasonably aggressive it gives the recipient of said advice an easy way to discount it, though.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:Don't feel bad. Few things on TLS really surprise me anymore, but I laughed my ass off at the idea of OP going into academia from La Verne or Akron or any of these festering hellholes.
It blows me away that people can charge headfirst into a career, spending tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process, without knowing the first thing about that career.

Retaking is almost always an option.
Not going is literally always an option.

The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

As a former teenage idiot turned adult, I can safely say the trademark of the idiot is only partially idiotic ideas, but is more pronounced in their idiotic responses to conflict. You can't tell an idiot not to follow through on their idiot plan. They take objective data personally. You can only save the misinformed and let them join you in payer higher taxes because of the idiots.IAFG wrote:Someone told me my combative attitude entrenched people in their bad decisions because they feel attacked by me.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:You've been away too long. Meet my son the lawyer.
Meet my daughter the doctor.
The rolemodels are wrong. But parents love prestige. Show them the list of schools, and then they can say. My son the Harvard Lawyer, and your family will go dance crazy. You have to show the breeders that their idiotic dreams will be mmet if they take it easy!
