I've worked in a firm in the Lowcountry for over two years and I've never even heard of a CSOL grad. It's unaccredited too, so you won't be able to apply for some government jobs. One option would be to live in Charleston and work as a legal assistant for a year or so, which (among many benefits) could give you a chance to make connections/network. I really love Charleston and think it's a great place to live!

I am from South Carolina. My entire, huge extended family lives there. I have family members who are lawyers in South Carolina. Even as a UGA law student, from South Carolina, who attended the best undergrad in south carolina, it is hard as hell to find anyone in south carolina who will let me work for them for free. You have NO IDEA what you are getting into. They don't even want people from the area with connections to work in their market if they didn't go to university of south carolina law. Having some random loosely connected family in the lowcountry isn't going to cut it.

Retake, retake, RETAKE. Go to South Carolina on one hell of a scholarship.

DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, think you are going to go to TTT outside the state of south carolina and get a job in Charleston.

Dude. If you're going to go to law school, then the ability to get a job as a lawyer after you graduate should be the single most important factor in your decision. If living in Charleston is more important to you than having a career as a lawyer then skip law school, move to Charleston, and get a job at Staples.

What people here are telling you is that neither of these schools will make your goal of living in Charleston as a lawyer possible. Just because it isn't what you want to hear doesn't mean your questions aren't being answered.

Everyone has told you to RETAKE/REAPPLY. Going to either of these schools will NOT allow you to have LAWYER job, even if you go there for free.

If you will only be happy being a lawyer and practicing in Charleston, then the only possible option for you is to retake the LSAT and get into the University of South Carolina. Even then you will have an uphill battle, but at least you will have a shot. Seriously. There is no "your way of looking at it" vs. "our way of looking at it". This is the reality of the situation.

The job prospects from Louisville and CSOL are abysmal. If you go to either of these schools, the chance that you will ever get a job as a lawyer, in any city, is very low. The chance that you will ever get a job as a lawyer in Charleston is virtually non-existent. End of story.

Given your options and the fact that you'd be happy working as a paralegal, then do that now. Do not go to law school right now in order to waste 3 years of your life and spend LOTS of money to end up in a job that you could get right now and that will kill your chances of practicing law. It appears to be a silly and highly irrational move on your part to go to law school right now.

I know this is probably not what you want to hear right now, but if you are truly fully committed to being a lawyer, then retake the LSAT and save up money over the next 1-5 years until you get into a better school and can afford to go.

Any school that has for employment at graduated: N/A according to USNEWS is a big risk.

I know OP is sensitive about this issue, but I don't think he should snap at people who provide honest feedback. Even if what others had said might be a little candid and blunt as being behind a computer often makes people less filtered, it is clear to me that 99%+ of the people on TLS do not want to hurt anybody. They are just providing honest feedback, and let's be honest in a field where people are so careful over their words, honest feedback is invaluable.

This post was a nice break from studying for the Property final.

I am going to give it to you straight here. If you want to work and live in SC you need to go to a school in SC. Louiville is out right there. Now going to CSOL at full price will leave you with 150,000 in debt from an unaccredited (or did that change by now?) school in a terrible market with a very small legal community to begin with. You will not have a good chance at finding a job. Let me clarify, you will not have a good chance at finding ANY job barring absolutely ridiculous grades or connections, both of which you should never bank on.

So here are your only two choices if you want to work in SC: Go $150,000 in debt right now, have less than 10% chance of landing any job remotely close to being able to pay off your debt and a 90% chance of suffering miserably for the rest of your life paying off debt. Hell, you are coming to SC to enjoy SC but you wont be able to do that when all you can think about is loans and working miserable hours to pay them off. The other choice is to retake and attend University of South Carolina next year. yeah yeah, retaking a waiting a year sucks, but it will be the smartest investment you will ever make.

I would choose the latter choice. If you are comfortable choosing the former, I am not sure why you don't just go to the casino with your life savings right now. I mean honestly the casino will give you AT LEAST the same 10% chance of making money as a degree from CSOL and you won't even be in debt if you don't hit that 10%, just lose all the money you already have.

I hope this post put everything in perspective. I realize you likely wont listen and attend CSOL anyway but i wanted to make sure someone opened your eyes so you can think back on this 3 years from now thinking that you should have listened. Good luck, time for me to get back to figuring out if right of re-entry is really the only future interest that is possessed in a fee simple subject to condition subsequent estate. Ugh.

I have read OP's posts, and their english is just god awful. I understand that he is probably typing quickly, and is going off of his subconscious impulses, but even subconsciously his writing is literally so out of sync with the English language he at times seems incoherent.

OP comments that he'll rip apart another poster in this thread (likely a t-14 student) in a court of law, which is completely unsubstantiated by evidence and given his likelihood to veer off course from an argument as he has done here over and over somewhat unlikely. Additionally, OP fails to realize that >90% of cases do not go to court, and that prosecutors are a dime a dozen, and it is a tough field to crack into.

Consequently, the majority of lawyering is spent in an office writing e-mails and typing documents. With OP's writing skills, even if OP went to a t-14, he would likely not even be fit to be a legal secretary as he lacks the skills necessary to succeed as a secretary (i.e. grammar).

It is somewhat evident that OP is a bit insecure about his position, and responds to criticism by throwing tangents, which is sure to do him well in the field of law. This might seem harsh, OP, and I thank you for your service, which is why I think you should use your GI Bill elsewhere.
