I'd go to T14 + UCLA + the two regional schools (Wisco-Marquette) for free. Otherwise I'd have to think twice.

Sans conditions? Def. UCLA, and possibly lower.

Yes because everyone one with without lawschool applying for JCPenny is going to look SOOOO much better than you on that application that way.

Basically I don't want the name on my resume to inspire a negative affect in my potential employers should I decide to pursue a field other than law.

Ah yes, the ol' "hang your own shingle" myth. Before you go into 6 figure debt so you can "hang your own shingle," check the yellow pages wherever you want to work (or, hell, anywhere with a population of >35 people), and just start to count the number of little law firms you see. Good luck with that.lawrookie wrote:I don't care how many people masterbate to photos of the T1 schools, if you pass ANY lawschool you can sit the bar, if you fail that its your own damn fault for not studying hard enough in school and bar prep. Hang your own shingle, dont be someones little bitch in a sweatshop, bunch of cowards.

So? Did your simple pee brain count the number of non-lawyers to it? Do the math idiot.

Actually, having law school on a resume sent out to a non-legal employer screams flight risk.lawrookie wrote:Yes because everyone one with without lawschool applying for JCPenny is going to look SOOOO much better than you on that application that way.

This 'lawrookie' character is spewing a lot of hate, even for TLS. Wowsers...
With a full-ride, I'd attend any of the T17 + CU-Boulder and Denver (obviously, the best of those options that accepted me), since my long-term goal is to practice in Colorado. I'd probably consider UIUC, U. Washington, U. Wisconsin, and Pitt as well (again, on a descending scale), as they feed to markets where I'd be happy to live and work.
DU's something like 67, and Pitt's in the low-70s or so, so I guess that's about as far down as I'd head.

Honestly, ITE I wouldnt drop Below T-30 for any but a handful of schools with specific appeals. Those would be, for example: University of Florida, because it dominates one of my choice markets, or Northeaster, because it has sick public interest programs that I'd be interesting in pursuing if I graduated with no debt.

Tier 1 only. None of the tier 2 schools in my region are worth going to, even for free.

I haven't. However, the question makes me assume two things:JollyGreenGiant wrote:Holy crap. Why haven't you gotten yourself banned yet?lawrookie wrote:So? Did your simple pee brain count the number of non-lawyers to it? Do the math idiot.
1) Cannot attend a school and pay for it.
2) Will not get a scholarship at any school higher ranked than the lowest one I'm willing to go to.
This being said, I'd attend Cooley for free. As has been pointed out, lost income potential is a major concern for some. For myself, however, I could conceivably continue working the job I have now if placement wasn't a concern. I feel like possessing a J.D. is of the utmost importance.

Re: With a full scholarship - how far down USNWR would you go?
I think I'm in the exact situation you're talking about so maybe my perspective will be helpful.
Basically I've got a full ride at GULC, and WLs everywhere else. Before I had the full ride offer at GULC, I had another essentially full ride offer from GW. I was without a doubt going to wait a year and reapply if the GW offer was my best return. However, I will probably accept the GULC offer, so for me 14th with a full ride seems to be the cutoff. But that's not an objective answer.
TBH, if you can get a FULL RIDE to a law school, even in the T3, then I think you should go. It's not putting you in debt, it is giving you an additional degree, and may qualify you to do some fairly high paying paralegal work (I don't mean this as a slight). If you just want a law degree, and the education is free, why not?
In fact, I think it would be better to take a full ride at a T3 then to pay sticker anywhere but the top 30ish. Even then I'm not sure it's a wise trade off.

Re: With a full scholarship - how far down USNWR would you go?
Well, I dropped down to #42 w/full-ride. I had offers to T14s, and probably could've had some full scholly offers from some T30 schools, but it really came down to wanting to practice in AZ.
As a general rule of thumb: I would drop down as far as I could while still setting myself up for the job (location, $$, etc.) I want.

T30. Wouldn't touch CA schools except Stanford with a 200 foot pole, no matter how much money they threw at me.

It's not like you didn't already know I hate everything about California. The only CA schools I would touch are Stanford and Boalt if I had no better option, in other words schools where OCI firms are willing to put me on the next plane out of the state to work for them.Fark-o-vision wrote:Really?
