Re: USNWR Rankings Released...Seriously
Interesting to note NY bar passage rates amongst the T14... not necessarily what you would expect. I wish US news would use these on a 5 yr rolling window or something to get a better sample, but I think there is some statistical significance particularly looking at Michigan's unexpectedly low rate.
Cornell - 99.2%
Penn -98.4%
Harvard - 98.2%
UVA- 97.5%
NYU - 97.2%
Georgetown - 96.8%
Columbia - 96.7%
Yale - 96.5%
Duke - 96.0%
Michigan - 91.2%
Cornell - 99.2%
Penn -98.4%
Harvard - 98.2%
UVA- 97.5%
NYU - 97.2%
Georgetown - 96.8%
Columbia - 96.7%
Yale - 96.5%
Duke - 96.0%
Michigan - 91.2%

Damn. This makes me wonder if anyone was smart enough to make a proxy server site that doesn't say "Proxy" or "Hide your IP" all over the place. I'm sure Websense blocks based off of the text in the html, not the function of the site.

I think it's hilarious that the former dean who got everyone to sign on board bailed before it was fully implemented. I wonder if in 50 years, W&L will have gone the way of Cumberland Law.Doritos wrote:W&L historically was ahead of Will and Mary but the gap between them is growing according to US News. I think thats more a flaw with US news than with the school itself which is very solid. That new 3L curriculum may have scared the rankings people for whatever reason.jmhendri wrote:What is going on with W&L?? It's got to be some sort of diabolical sabotage.

It does IP bans. You'll have to find a list of new proxies before the websense guys find it.quickquestionthanks wrote:itsmytime10 wrote:

Did anyone see "Going to Med School" moved up 8 spots into the T50??
Really tired of that joke anytime I ask people for law school advice. It's like that dickhead who makes the express/ local joke on the elevator

Re: USNWR Rankings Released...Seriously
GW hasn't removed it's PT program; they have reduced the size for this fall but that wouldn't have an impact on 2010 rankings... Without looking into the details of the rankings, I'm assuming Fordham's drop has more to do with employment statistics (rescinded offers in NYC market, etc).
jrobby6 wrote:I attribute GW's rise (again) to the removal of their PT program. There. I said it.
See Fordham.

I was surprised at the big boost of Loyola Chicago and it is ahead of Kent as well as the huge drop in rankings of DePaul.

This reminds me of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, running around trying to find the golden ticket based on this or that rumor. Maybe Hudson News should benefit from this, seeing as the rankings have been leaked two years in a row anyway and how hysterical TLSers get. 5 leaked magazines in 5 major cities.

Rankings are mostly bullshit, and small changes in the rankings mean even less, but I ain't gonna lie: it's nice to be able to tell my grandma that I'm going to a Top Five law school.

She's old, she won't know the difference. I lie and tell my grandmother the same thing, and then she starts talking about war bonds.
