Re: Predicting 2013 Rankings
I think they changed their employment % methodology so that people seeking another degree or not seeking work are now counted in the denominator.
Also, the employment % is skewed by how heavily schools used short-term law-school funded fellowships. I know UVA and Georgetown had 10+% in such fellowships, and Penn and NU had around 3-5%. I think most schools had at least a couple.

To the extent US News has any credibility, it should be in placing schools into these broadly correct tiers, but there is no way St. John's is placing nationally. I think properly applied, those kinds of labels could be useful. A school like Michigan is legitimately national. A school like Wisconsin is legitimately regional. A school like St. John's is local.

Romo did mention before that WUSTL was one of the few to adopt the new employment reporting USNews is pushing. Might have really cost them in these rankings.disco_stu wrote:Well, that's horrible.Bronck wrote:WUSTLthexfactor wrote:need some info on WUSTL

They did this last year. Some dean (I think Emory) blamed their drop on it then.ahnhub wrote:I think they changed their employment % methodology so that people seeking another degree or not seeking work are now counted in the denominator.

There's discussing rankings, and then there's questioning whether they'll have an impact on anything substantive. At all. They won't. And if you think they do you're an idiot.DaftAndDirect wrote:Samara wrote:Don't you know? You're not cool unless you're mocking other posters for discussing changes in rankings.+1 STFU Rad Lulz. Does anyone know why Stanford's medians are different from what LSN would make them seem? (http://stanford.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1011/)

I guess I had better change my name. UVA has the best employment percentage in the legal world? Unlikely.
