It's fucking snow. How is weather even a reasonable consideration? So there's bad snow in Upstate New York? I guess that means 5% of the year you might need to worry about getting snow in your shoes.
I'd go to school in the arctic circle if it meant being more sure of financial security post-graduation.

omg Ithaca is NOT that bad... I actually love it here (and yes, I've been through two Ithaca winters and am from Cali). I honestly think Cornell just looks at other things on applications more so than other schools.ChampagnePapi wrote:Both have better reps than Ithaca as college towns, especially Ann Arbor (though undeservedly, IMO, and I've visited all three). Both considered "fun" places whereas Ithaca is where fun goes to die. And the weather is not comparable.justonemoregame wrote:Ann Arbor??? Charlottesville??????
Don't you think it's a bit ridiculous to say oh they have a 167 median now? IT MUST BE THE WEATHER.

That was probably the least dramatic snowstorm video ever created. After seeing this Minnesotabros would flock there to winter.DaleCooper wrote:the weather really is that bad.

Texas did not announce medians at orientation. The whole staff is very friendly and open though. I feel like they'd tell us if someone asked.

i'm anxious to see the rest of the medians.
dont understand why they wouldn't just tell their students at orientation. they're going to need to report them at some point.

I don't think most current students care. I would assume most wouldn't even know what the previous year's LSAT median was.DoctorShawHi wrote:i'm anxious to see the rest of the medians.

So you are commenting about something in which you obviously have absolutely no experience or knowledge. Ithaca is not in Upstate NewYork. It is in Central New York, which is a whole different ballgame than Albany/Poughkeepsie. In central NY there is snow on the ground from November-April. Do you like waking up every morning and shoveling snow off the ground and scraping ice off your windshield? Do you like walking down the steps of the library at night and slipping on black ice? Do you like your hair freezing between parking the car and walking inside? Do you like not seeing the sun for weeks at a time? Do you like the sun setting at 4:00 PM? Do you like trying to fly home for Christmas but not being able to get out of the Syracuse airport for 3 days because of a blizzard?
Come back after actually spending some time there.

Spending 3 years in Ithaca isn't for everyone. After spending 4 undergrad years in very similar weather and a similarly rural environment (and not minding the weather and enjoying the location along the way), I intentionally left Cornell off my list of law schools. It's an excellent school, but I did not want to be in Ithaca for grad school.

If you're from NYC like I am, Cornell is upstate. I went to Binghamton for undergrad, and I consider both Bing and Cornell as upstate.....but that's me.WanderingPondering wrote:Ithaca is not in Upstate NewYork. It is in Central New York, which is a whole different ballgame than Albany/Poughkeepsie.

The medians for USC are slightly incorrect. GPA should be 3.73.

Looks like Boalt's medians are up on their website.
I think Duke and NU will maintain their medians, but I suspect GULC's will fall as a result of their scholarship stinginess and huge class sizes.

This past winter it was almost certainly less than 5% of the year you had to spend worrying about snow. I drove every day and I think I had to scrape the snow off my car once, maybe twice.WanderingPondering wrote:superbloom wrote:So there's bad snow in Upstate New York? Curious whether or not you lived in Ithaca for those years -- I've lived in Central New York my whole life and Ithaca for the last three years, and Ithaca winters are far milder than Syracuse winters, despite the two cities being only an hour apart.

I lived in Cazenovia (~30 minutes from Syracuse) but have been to Ithaca many times. And you're right, this last winter didn't exist. Unlike any other winter in my lifetime and unlikely to happen again in the near future.Other25BeforeYou wrote: Curious whether or not you lived in Ithaca for those years -- I've lived in Central New York my whole life and Ithaca for the last three years, and Ithaca winters are far milder than Syracuse winters, despite the two cities being only an hour apart.
