I would go to Berkeley because I'm debt averse but I think it's your preference at this point. There's something to be said for not having to relocate and have your SO look for work, which might take longer than expected (unless she's in tech).

Idk I think it comes down to the logistics of your relationship. When is your SO moving to LA? Word she wait 3 years or would you be LDR? Would you 100% be LDR with Berkeley?

I think it comes down to a personal decision really.

Sorry, I should have been clear that my SO would move with me to Berkeley and then we'd move to LA after. We wouldn't be long-distance, and the relationship isn't a factor I worry about. Otherwise I'd be crazy to be asking strangers on the internet for advice.

Berkeley makes sense. Just make sure you thoroughly understand their LRAP. Iirc they had some $100k debt cap in the past but idk if they do that anymore.
