Oh, I see. That is a tough decision to wait a year then. Would Fordham or Cardozo let you do a non-binding deferment with your scholarships guaranteed for next year? As I type that I can see how unlikely it is but there's no harm in checking. In that case, you can defer but also retake and/or reapply to see how you do. Or, you can do a deferral (even if it's binding), retake, and if you do significantly better, you can wait yet another year, at which point the deferral will no longer be valid (I'm assuming binding deferrals count for the following year you say you will enroll, but not if you don't enroll at all that specific year?) and you can apply to the schools you want with a good chance of getting in. (this probably didn't make much sense...)snarfing wrote:I have a full ride at cardozo, and I have 40k a year at fordham which is the second highest scholarship option they offer. I dont have interest in any t14 outside of NY/Penn/Michigan for personal reasons. I dont disagree I should reapply for t14, but I dont really see myself getting better offers from Cardozo or Fordham.studyingeveryday wrote:Dude, with your numbers, you have to reapply early next year. You will almost certainly at least get into low-mid T14, Cardozo would give you a full ride, and Fordham probably close to one too (but with your stats, you should be thinking about the t14).
Since you're going to wait out a year anyway, you may as well retake if you think you can get a few extra points, but just reapplying in September will do wonders for you.
I'm not sure how reapplying a second year to schools you already got into works. I've read some cases where the schools have waitlisted students who applied again, but also cases where they didn't so I can definitely understand your concern with reapplying fordham/cardozo next year.
In any case, you have to decide whether you would rather take the sure thing you have now, or wait a year for what's likely/possible with NY/Penn/Michigan. Out of the four schools though, you do have a decent chance (also, have you considered UVA, which is also close-ish? If distance is your issue, if it's not, then never mind). Just remember that the law school you go to will determine your career outcomes. Good luck, though, this is a tough one.
