There's a pretty big difference between "anything but hys is a fail" and "don't listen to a clown who's never interviewed for a legal job and has zero useful input itt."LShopeful2016 wrote:YHS/BigLaw or bust, OP! Don't settle like everyone else on this thread!
Nice try.

This thread took a weird turn and didn't really end up being much help. But honestly I thought this was pretty funny.LShopeful2016 wrote:YHS/BigLaw or bust, OP! Don't settle like everyone else on this thread!

People are trying to help you but I'm not sure you're really asking the proper question.UsernameNotFound wrote:This thread took a weird turn and didn't really end up being much help. What do you mean by corporate/business law? What kind of job are you hoping to get?

Don't know. Just find business law interesting from prior low end legal jobs and classes I've taken (contracts, tax, stuff like that). And I've spoken with people in the legal department at my current company, which is why I said that I could probably end up working in-house corporate counsel if nothing else ends up working out for me.BigZuck wrote:People are trying to help you but I'm not sure you're really asking the proper question.UsernameNotFound wrote:This thread took a weird turn and didn't really end up being much help. But then again, I'm not familiar with every kind of law there is, so I don't know if I'll end up wanting to change my path. Maybe I'll end up taking a law class I really love and decide that's what I want to do instead. That's what I was trying to say; that I'm not completely set on doing business law, but at least I'm not going in without any idea of what I wanna do whatsoever.

Saying you're interested in "tax" or "contracts" is still very vague.UsernameNotFound wrote:Don't know. Let's try it this way: Imagine you're one year out of law school. Ideally, where would you work? Type of employer? Law firm? In house at a company? How much would your salary be?

I'm confused. If your scholarship to Chapman is a full ride and you could live at home, how is your CoA still $64,000?
If your cost could literally just be books, clothes, and a new computer that could be a reasonable choice.

Pepperdine is very focused on accessibility and community. When I went on the tour there, several of the professors stopped in on the tour as well as other students asking if I had any questions to please e-mail them. In contrast, the guy who gave me the tour of USD wasn't even sure where some of the professors' offices were. Hopefully that helps you out a bit.

Why would that matter at all?legallybrunette94 wrote:Pepperdine is very focused on accessibility and community. I mean, even if accessibility and community are really important, USD could still be the more accessible and communal place. There's definitely an LSAT LR question hidden in there...

Honestly, all of these outcomes scare the crap out of me. The least worst option, however, is Chapman as long as you're sure you're ok working in Orange County with a 57% chance of landing a job with a $65K salary. Even then, however, I'd say continue working in your current job for another couple years, then devote 6 months of your life to increasing your LSAT score when you're eligible to take it again.
