Where does the myth come from that you can do anything on a legal degree? Is this something that 80's & 90's lawyers were able to do?

It comes from lots of lawyers hating law and seeking work outside the field.

Why do Stetson’s employment stats look so dismal? Because, most of Stetson Grads will not get a job until after bar admission and most of Stetson grads will work in Midlaw, Small Law, SAO, PD, State Agencies, Fed/State Clerks etc.

After bar results came out what surprised me the most? The amount of my classmates taking jobs in Mid Law, as Fed clerks

Currently looking at the aba summary for class of 2014 and seeing 3 fed clerks, 2 state clerks and 24 midlaw/biglaw combined. Out of 307 grads.

Why am I so sure of myself? Well I have a job better situated than most people on this forum and most in this state. I also finished dead middle of my class. Is it in big law? No. I feel sorry for my fellow alums who got big law. They may never truly litigate. They may never truly be attorneys. (I am not as ASA or APD)

3. Where did you go to undergrad?
4. What's your definition of truly being an attorney?
5. When you say "I am not as ASA or APD," I'm a little bit confused. Not sure if that's a typo or you're saying that you're not truly an attorney right now as an assistant?

1.Not enough... But future earning potential is very high..
2.A lot but not nearly as much as most...
3.Large State school.
4.One who is listed as counsel on a case. Really, though I only want to litigate so someone who also gets actual hearing time in State and Fed court...
5.This statement was to clarify that I am not working at a State Attorney's office or a Public Defender's Office.
6.My job is probably one of the best stepping stones in the state into politics or litigation I will not clarify further.


Also, to clarify I didn't say you would be marked for going to FSU Florida or Miami... I'm sorry if I was a little convoluted... I mean't If you go to a Florida law school outside of Florida, FSU, Miami, Stetson, and maybe FIU you pretty much have a red mark on your resume for most jobs.

Bruh. I know a dude who went to Ave Maria, transferred to Florida Coastal and is doing super well with both names tattooed on either side of his heart. He makes a wage, doing work with people (that I can't specify because it'll out him). He has potential for salary increases. He lives in a certain kind of house. Drives a car. Has a pet. Just lol at your one-off list for jobs in FL.

Is it possible OP works for Stetson? I've been ignoring three emails a month and tossed more than a couple snail mail brochures from Stetson since I registered for my first LSAT attempt in January. Maybe this is a part of their marketing strategy?
