So, I'm not a huge fan of michigan, but I'd say the darrow edges out sticker debt. Also Michigan placed 10.51% of its class into clerkships last year and Harvard placed 14.51%, so we're not talking about astronomical divergences here.

Yeah I'm with others here. For your goals, Harvard is obviously worth more than Michigan. 100k more? I think so. 150k more? Maybe. 250k more? I don't think so. I'd take Michigan in your shoes.

should michigan's lowering employment numbers and poor trends the past few years give pause to someone considering the Darrow?

To the extent they have other very low debt options (i.e. full or near-full scholarship from competing school), it may tip the scales to certain other choices. But in the comparison here? Its a drop in the bucket.

But you'll always have to wonder, "what if I went to Harvard?" You know that most of SCOTUS are HLS alums...it's something to think about.

Not true at all. You won't always have to wonder that. Sure, he may choose to wonder that, but its not a given. If one is happy with his debt-free life, with a good job and career flexibility, then the only what if is "how much crappier would my life be if I had a quarter million more debt?"

I think it's pretty obvious that regardless of the OP's choice, (s)he is likely to wonder about the other option. What would it have been like to go to Harvard? What would it have been like to have that extra disposable income over that 10-year period?

Would you rather have $250,000 or an extra 10% chance at a fed clerk?
