How did u get a full tuition scholarship to USD with a 160 when their median is 159? I am intrigued.

I'm sure many schools in that tier (including USD) are reading the writing on the wall and are expecting another median tumble, so a 160 is probably relatively better this year than it was last year.

Very few law schools do need-based aid (and they're clustered at the top of the food chain). It's very different from undergrad in that respect.

Somehow the CA public TTTs (Hastings and Davis) have been able to perpetuate a need based aid flame for years.

The people who are in charge of recruiting students at those schools are very good at their jobs.

OP- if you really want to do criminal defense/prosecution and know what it takes to get there then go to the best school you can in your desired region of CA (as long as it's on a full ride)

Unless I'm missing some kind of inside joke, I don't get it. I didn't know that it's normal to get a full ride when your LSAT is one point above the school's median and not even as high as the school's 75th.

He's above median, how far above median doesn't really matter, USNWR doesn't factor 75ths. Plus I'd bet there are stips. I didn't really intend it to be comical though lol.

Thats actually better than what I had imagined (although I was really just guessing). I need to call their office and see if I can solicit a hard number. Do you read much into the guarentee of work? Paid internships around SD for 1Ls seemed pretty competitive, so a guarentee of one from the school is a tempting offer

Making 4k in the summer is such an insignificant factor when weighed against the entirety of your career that you shouldn't even be thinking about it.

Just recieved financial aid offer from Hastings - $25K/year renewable with 2.20 gpa stipulation. Slightly more than I thought they would offer but still not enough to make it a compelling offer.

Base of 43K a year (129K over all three), with an annual increase to match tuition increases, as well as a book stipend for the first year. Brings total COA down to around $60K and change over three years, and that pretty much matches the offer I have from USD. Stipulation is the same as their previous offer, 2.85 (top 75%).

Thoughts?

Loyola is not a good school. $60k in debt isn't the worst thing you could do to yourself, but it is by no means a good idea.

Just retake, OP. Your GPA is pretty close to UCLA and USC's, why sell yourself short?

Even if you only improve by a couple points, you would probably get a huge merit aid offer from UCD. Retake is the way to go.
