OP: I was you once. I didn't retake because I'm an idiot. I studied for 4 weeks, got a 166, then applied. With a 3.8 GPA. I got $$$ to GW and said good enough, and didn't do my research. Its biting me in the ass so hard right now. Don't go here.

What are your post-law school goals, OP?
160k open to any market
These goals & GW are not compatible.
I don't think this true. Every person I know above a 3.5 received at least one offer and many below a 3.5 received an offer. Nothing is guaranteed here, but its also a requirement that you are likable person/mediocre interviewer at least. I actually only know one person above a 3.5 who received only one offer.

I know plenty around 3.5 with no offers. And the 30% figure does not lie from last year, and the class is bigger this year. I know someone with a 4.0 that one got one offer.

Isn't the 30% figure from the class of 2013? Last year's class was the class of 2015.

Edit: last year's class that participated in OCI

Yeah, top 15% is about 3.61-3.63, and top 15/33 are the only designations GW gives out

2013 was ~26%....no reason for that to be much higher than 30 for 2015

This is all that matters. I think ppl are being hard on GW, I didn't have great grades but was shocked by the amount of interviews and offers I and my friends got. Not everyone gets jobs here though.

"All that matters"?
Enjoying the experience is a great perk, but at the end of the day jobs matter more. Law school isn't summer camp.

And we're only being hard on GW because of OP's stated goal of Biglaw.
If OP wanted to get a PI or Gov't job, then we'd be singing a different tune about GW with a fully.

Yeah. If your'e OK with Gov't jobs, being in DC for free is great. GW places into the honors programs/pathways at a reasonable rate, and we get a number of other entry level hires b/c people can intern during spring & fall.

If you want DC, GW is #1 outside of T14.

30% is unusually high, which is to be expected from a smaller class. Normally the number is 20-25% biglaw placement, including IP. Nearly 100% of the IP people will get biglaw if they want it, so take percentages with a grain of salt. I usually tell people you need to be in the top 10-15% to be a near-lock for biglaw and top 33% is dependent on your personality and experiences.

Nat Sherman wrote:OCI was brutal for a lot of people at GW this year. c/o 2015 had less than 400 people, yet 2016 had almost 500, then they admitted a bunch of transfers (I've heard numbers of 50-150 thrown around). This year the entering class is like 550. Even though they break you up into sections, some classes literally did not have enough seats for the students.

Don't go to gw. The law school is turning into a cash grab for the university by admitting every 3.8/157 and transfer to get them to pay sticker.

550 is their entering class?? Wow their GPA/LSAT medians must have gotten massacred, which is why I assume they have not released them.

Officially 93 transfers for the class of 2016, per GW's 509. no word on class of 2017 transfers yet.

+1
If Biglaw is your goal, you should really only be looking at Yale thru Cornell.

Or free at a T20, with a backup plan, ready to drop out if you get bad/average grades or strike out at OCI.
I mean G Dubs is technically a "T20". At least for this year.

Any strong regional with decent big law placement so like a T20 + the NDs, Fordhams, BCs of the world probably suffices.

How hard is it to get GW's early decision scholly?
