Thoughts on Northwestern? Forum

That being said, I apologize if I have come off as whiny. I realize what a great opportunity this is, and after all, nothing in life is ever guaranteed or meant to be easy. I do think I'll take the offer and not look back. It's just difficult to process still, I mean.. two weeks ago I was sitting at 0 law school acceptances and just a couple of wait list spots where I thought I'd have to be paying sticker if I went this year since I applied late.

To the contrary, you sound like you know what you want and have thought through the decision thoroughly. It's pretty laudable. Good luck.

OP, congrats on your great Northwestern offer! Like everyone else has said, figure out if you think you'll be satisfied as a lawyer. If so, then don't be afraid to make this choice!

And wow, reading your post about yourself and your goals was like reading something I would say (although you sound more mature hahah). We most likely won't be attending the same law school, which is too bad since I think we'd get along great.

Congrats, OP! From what I've heard, Chicago natives, who go to Northwestern, are typically smiled upon by Chicago biglaw firms. I'll see you there!

A little off topic, but can anyone who has been through NU OCI or know a little more about the process verify this?

There is some non-negligible evidence that NOT being from Chicago makes it harder to convince Chicago firms you want to stay here. People from the area obviously don't have that issue. I know people from Chicago going to NY, people from outside Chicago staying here, and plenty of people from Chicago or other places in the midwest staying here.
