That's really rude of you. I wonder if you'd call me a hypersensitive twat to my face. Btw, I'm not paying sticker, you didn't even read.bjsesq wrote:The financial part is part of the consideration, you hypersensitive twat. I am making a decision between two schools that surprise! comes with a price tag. If you've come to my thread to flame me for my financial decisions it's unwelcome.

Re: UCLA or Northwestern?
I'll chime in on UCLA vs NU later, but first...
You will not get a substantial amount of need based aid from NYU. NYU is not HYS. If they give you anything, it will not be enough to change the calculus.
On this forum and elsewhere, you'll read many, many, accounts of people with EFCs at or approaching $0 who got no need/merit based aid. I've PMed with NYU students who have told me about how they got $0 even though their parents earned zero income, or they were financially independent from a young age, or they were earning near-minimum wage.
If you get off the waitlist, it's very likely that you'll be paying sticker. IMO, no school, even a great one like NYU (which I'll be attending) is worth sticker.
ETA: my bad i see this is an old thread
keeping this here for the benefit of any future nyu applicants who have delusions of need-based aid coming their way
