Yea, these schools are really bad. With your numbers you should be aiming higher. Good luck with your cycle. You need to reapply!

I'm not sure what else to say. These are honestly my options this cycle. I guess my situation is pretty effing weird. Wonk wonk wonk wonk.
Anyway, I gather the consensus is to reapply earlier. My LORs were from attorneys I work with (one from Loyola and the other from USC). I don't think they would screw me over, but how would I know for sure? I'll probably do the optional essays next time. Probably wouldn't hurt.
Thank you, everyone, for the advice. It'll be hard to turn away full rides, but it is a bit easier now with all these consistent "don't do it" advice. I'm pretty glad I finally decided to post here. All of the feedback I've been getting from attorneys I work with have been "SNAG THAT FULL RIDE NOW!!!!" The difference in attitude between the forums and my colleagues is interesting.

Anyways, try and get at least one LOR from a former teacher, because schools prefer that(academics and work aren't the same thing after all!). And perhaps redo your personal statement

I get the same advice from practicing attorneys despite what is being said on TLS by not-yet-attorneys. I'm going with what actual attorneys are sayingkiris wrote:I'm not sure what else to say. That's dumb unless those practicing attorneys can guarantee you a job.krispymenudo wrote:I get the same advice from practicing attorneys despite what is being said on TLS by not-yet-attorneys. These schools are all dumpster fires that should be shut down. 50% placement rates (and below) aren't good enough. Do those practicing attorneys understand how horrible these schools are in terms of getting people lawyer jobs?

Oh yeah I figured the guaranteed job was implied. I figure a lot of people who go to any of these schools and don't get jobs don't consider beforehand that they need ties then should go to law school.BigZuck wrote:That's dumb unless those practicing attorneys can guarantee you a job.krispymenudo wrote:I get the same advice from practicing attorneys despite what is being said on TLS by not-yet-attorneys. eta: these aren't lawyers who are hiring me for me. They're lawyers who say they'd hire from (obviously not from the bottom of the class of) Pepperdine in a heartbeat.

I know a non-URM woman from your college with your stats who got all of CCN, with some $. I agree with the consensus that something went wrong in your app (either PS or LoRs) and you would be doing a disservice to yourself by attending these schools, even for free. I would not attend. PS, I'm a practicing attorney.
