Gotcha. Since my score is lower than a 165 with a 3.6 GPA, I know that a few points will make a difference in my case. I just didn't want to get everyone trying to convince me retake and wait another year, haha.
$35k is kind of close. It might be worth it to do UNC because it probably has more lay prestige, better location, better sports teams, etc. Given your numbers I think you should seriously consider a retake though because if you can hit 168-170 you will get a lot more money and possible a couple of lower T14.

Well, you probably should do that, but putting down a seat deposit and doing it this way is better than nothing. If you knock it out of the park, I think you'll find it a bit easier to wait out a year. Good luck!

Just to update this post, I am pretty much set on Wake. I have almost a full tuition offer to Wake after negotiation and the difference in cost between UNC and Wake will now be about 45k assuming I was able to get 2 years of residency at UNC (pretty confident I would). Either way I think I am going to just take the $$.

Some factors that tipped the scale aside from money, were that I already made contact with Wake law grads in IP and I think I will have solid shot at positions whether I went to UNC or not. Also, I am not certain if being patent attorney is necessarily what I want to do. I look at patents every day now and am not certain if I want to be drafting them every day. I definitely like the IP field as a whole but may be gravitating toward litigation. I think the focus Wake puts on litigation will let me discern if I would do well in this field. And for me personally (I know many disagree) WS > Chapel Hill. These factors are small to me compared to the $$ but I think they helped contribute to my final decision.
