Point taken, thanks!Lincoln wrote:As someone who graduated with around the level of debt you would have from UChi, I would kill a small child to have $100k less to pay off right now.

You can, and many do, but you don't need to.lald99 wrote:Thanks, that was the general feeling I had.WearyCartographer wrote:They're peers. I'd pick your favorite between Cornell, Duke, and Michigan. All have fairly different feels. If you don't have a strong preference between the three though, then take Cornell and the cheapest COA. If you have a preference (i.e. think you'd be happier) for Mich or Duke, I wouldn't let the $16k hold you back.lald99 wrote:Also, just want to update that Mich matched my Duke scholarship. I know Mich's employment numbers are a little worse, so is there any reason to consider them?
To the couple of people who voted Chicago or Columbia, can I really justify that debt?

None of these debt amounts justify attending any of those law schools.

Hmm, well considering my desire to become an attorney combined with my sweeping lack of opportunities with my useless undergrad degree, I'm going to have to politely disagree.daryldixon wrote:None of these debt amounts justify attending any of those law schools.

Would receiving a 75K scholarship from Penn be worth taking? I received word I could potentially receive an award from 60-75K, the max of which would send COA to about 200K. This would still be about 55K more than Duke/UMich and even more of a differential from Cornell.
Just wondering people's thoughts or if I should take it very seriously and follow up.

There are a lot of Penn fans on these boards, but personally I'd take Cornell's money and run unless you have personal reason for wanting to be in PA, want a JD/MBA, or whatever. I went to Cornell, but I'd take Duke over Penn, as well.lald99 wrote:Would receiving a 75K scholarship from Penn be worth taking? If it were me, I'd choose Michigan here.
Loved the school, the student vibes, and the career services people more than their counterparts at Cornell/Duke.
Employment outcomes and costs are pretty similar between your choices, so if you're not inclined to retake, you won't go wrong with your gut.

Retake and get a whole lot more money next year. Otherwise, Cornell.
