Suffolk just went from awful idea to awful idea. Let's face facts: this changes little about the very, very bad school you are considering.TheHarveySpecter wrote:As someone considering Suffolk, I want to know if this really matters in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't make any sense to attend Suffolk. You would be much better off either retaking the LSAT or working, saving money, and starting a business.TheHarveySpecter wrote:As someone considering Suffolk, I want to know if this really matters in the grand scheme of things. No. There's no change. Suffolk was a school that was a good deal 30 years ago if you wanted to practice at a small firm in Greater Boston or work for the local government. It was a waste of money 2 years ago, last year, and now. Don't go. Retake or find something else to do with your life. And change your goddamn avatar- that show is absurd and that character a joke.TheHarveySpecter wrote:As someone considering Suffolk, I want to know if this really matters in the grand scheme of things. Like most law schools W&L has always had shit employment stats. Nothing changed from 2011 to 2012.mx23250 wrote:Rankings themselves shouldn't play that much of a role, in my opinion. HOWEVER, some of the factors such as employment statistics that play a major role in the rankings SHOULD play a role. The major drop in ranking for W&L (-17) should raise a red flag as it seems to be largely due to very very poor employment at graduation and 9 months post-graduation.goldgirl786 wrote:This may be obvious, but how big of a role should these rankings play in making a final decision? The fact that Sandusky's taint is creating more of a reaction than the USNWR rankings says a lot about the rankings.

I loled too, but I meant the ability of schools to recruit students (I doubt that firms care much, but students are definitely of the mindset--oh, this is the best law school in the state according to USNWR!).Bildungsroman wrote:Scene: midlaw office in Richmond.Hutz_and_Goodman wrote:I'm surprised ATL coverage doesn't focus on the regional affect of the rankings given that almost all if the non-t14 schools are regional. The role employment data plays into the rankings is probably responsible for the huge drops for almost all schools in Southern California. So considering how saturated that market is, hopefully the rankings dissuade a decent amount of people from enrolling in those terrible schools.

That sounds like the old joke of "The Aggies just got caught cheating again, so the NCAA is expected to punish SMU severely."Bildungsroman wrote:Reputation is factored into the score, and Penn took a big hit from the Sandusky scandal.Mauve.Dino wrote:I'm curious about the employment stats. I don't pretend to understand.
