Let's limit the discussion to DUKE v. MICHIGAN....
Furthermore, reading comprehension is CRITICAL to the success of a law student.

Lol you definitely mad.sdphill wrote:1) Referring to a woman as "dude/bra" is really rude... If you don't know the sex of the person, use gender neutral terms.Mal Reynolds wrote:
I never said you have to choose Columbia. But not having it listed as an option is dumb. You are trying to manipulate the feedback you get. You best options are between Duke and Columbia. Choose whatever one at this point will make you happier I guess. But sorry, a $35k difference between Duke and Columbia is immaterial. If you choose Duke it will be because of personal preferences, thus rendering the point of this thread moot.

I guess I can see picking Duke over Columbia if, when you were saying you want to do NGO work abroad, what you actually meant was "I want to do BigLaw in Atlanta". Or if your spouse has promised to divorce you if you so much as set foot in NYC, for whatever reason.
Columbia is still TCR.

This is what OP said:Adm.Doppleganger wrote:I don't get it, why is everyone telling OP to just go to a school that she clearly doesn't want to go to? Personally I'd go to Columbia but given her clear aversion that just seems like awful advice.
"I would love to go to Columbia" doesn't sound like a clear aversion to me. It's obviously the COL that's the main problem but people keep trying to explain that 1) any difference in cost is worth it for CLS given OP's goals and 2) LRAP should make the extra debt essentially a non-issue anyway.I would love to go to Columbia but I have to be realistic about the type of work I want to do and where I will be potentially living post graduation. The remainder of tuition + COL in NYC is a bit too high for me and I am not particularly fond of NYC. But more so its the COL.

For what you want: Duke.
Then again, take my advice with a grain of salt. Full disclosure is I'm on Mich's WL.
