Methodology: Data for the Go-To Law Schools special report is provided by law firms surveyed for The National Law Journal's NLJ 250, our annual survey of the nation's 250 largest law firms. We also queried the law schools for hiring data. Ranks were determined by the percentage of 2010 graduates who took jobs as first-year associates at NLJ 250 law firms. We determined the percentage by using the 2010 juris doctor graduating class size provided by each school. The ranking does not reflect law school graduates who took jobs as judicial clerks after graduation.

According to LST, 11% of UGA grads go into Article III clerkships. Compare this to GSU's 0%.

Also why do UGA grads/students always bash Emory when Emory has over double the biglaw placement UGA has?

Emory's placement is 21.18%, with 5.7% entering Article III clerkships.
UGA's placement is 11.47%, with 11% entering Article III clerkships.

Adding the components to create a rough metric of the % of students that have something you could consider "gainful legal employment", its 26.88% at Emory vs. 22.47% for UGA. That is a 4.41% difference.

Estimated cost of attendance for 1 year at Emory, without scholarship, is $69,396. Estimated cost of attendance for 1 year at UGA, without scholarship, is $51,252 for out-of-state and $34,144 for in-state.

3 years at Emory is $208,188. 3 years at UGA is 119,540 (assuming out-of-state 1L, get it 2L/3L).

UGA students bash Emory students because they're paying $88,648 more for 4.41% better employment prospects.

This is admittedly a rough calculation, but it gives you an idea of what the situation is. HTMFH

I think most people go to Emory because they are looking for biglaw. It doesn't make sense to go to UGA unless you want A3, and it doesn't make sense to go to UGA if you want biglaw.

OP: UGA is located in athens, while GSU is in downtown Atlanta, this might explain why they have better placement for big law. GSU one of the better TT

I am aware. Emory deserves some of the criticism it gets here, but much of it is over the top, as is the habit of some posters.

That study was irrelevant because it is not comparable to any other statistics on employment. When you find stats for job placement they are reported 9 months after graduation. This study was completed 3 months before graduation, and is meaningless. Unless you can find surveys from other schools completed 3 months before graduation
