Did you ever have any problems with deposits or withdrawals?

If you still plan on doing poker 30 hrs a week, you could get another job as well or do some volunteering. Both would add to the PS/resume.

If you can defer for one year then you might as well and earn some cash.

most people don't have to worry about withdrawing anyway...

That being said, withdrawing from stars/ftp is easy as pie. I remember one incident where the US or something took millions in withdrawal checks. Stars took the hit and reimbursed everyone. Honestly I'm not sure how hard it is to deposit, rarely have had to. I have plenty of friends with money online anyway, I would wire/give em money irl and they would xfer. Although plenty of people seem to be depositing anyway based on how many people online play.

Yale seems to have little issue with Vanessa's time away from class...and as I recall, she had built her reputation in the online AND live poker world prior to being accepted...

From her tweets, this semester seems to be a mix of kicking ass in live tournaments while balancing with the last year of school.

Basically WCGRider is my best friend from high-school. He pretty much convinced me to play, staking me and teaching me. I lived off of it for a year, it was too emotional. Losing months are just soul crushing and demotivate me. I ended up seriously not putting enough hands in towards the end.

I recall last summer learning HU. I was playing NL50 HU (.25/.50) and Jungleman was battling Patrick Antonius at like 50/100 (500/1000) 5 feet to my left. Every now and then he would look over at what I was doing and try to explain what line I should take all the while timing down at extreme nosebleeds. Pretty surreal.

I haven't played a hand of poker in the past 3 months. you play fr/6max, so you have to know a few people i know irl. WCGRider, Fee's, (maybe a few stars players like Andrew Bocca, Skllzdatkls?)

EDIT: FWIW WCGRider always wanted to be a lawyer growing up. Poker monies caused him to drop out of UG and give up on that one lol

IMHO, i think you need to weigh the opportunity cost of waiting two years with the earnings you will be making. It is strictly a math calculation that depends on your win rate. If you actually were able to pay your way through a private college after paying taxes (60-70k) with a steady winrate for two years, then I think it is certainly a good decision to work for a couple of years and maybe retake the lsat.

In my experience (and yours too prob) though, when people say "i been a semipro for 2 years" = i got massive rungood for two weeks and have recently decided that i am a semipro. Just like "i payed my way through college" = "i was able to pay the interest on my financial aid and have beer money left over". In short, its like with those "tell me if i should go pro threads" on 2p2, post your pokertracker graphs and people will tell you.

I dont think your situation is "very unique", as you put it. I have been a PLO8 grinder for about 5 years, and know other people in the same boat. In high school and college, it made me enough money to chill mad hard, go on lavish vacations, and put money in the bank. But it just wasn't enough for me to defer and play cards full time. I did defer from UVA for other reasons, but haven't played cards too much this year. As cliched as it sounds, at least as far as plo8 is concerned, the games just aren't as easy as they were 3-4 years ago. Also, ftp doesn't process my and many US player echeck deposits (the deposit goes through but takes 4-5 months for them to actually take the money out of my checking account), which definitely is a bad sign for the future.

sorry about the rant, and gl with your decision.

I'll admit to not reading this thread, but screw the law thing and move to Chicago. Options traders here make disgusting amounts of money in minutes. You can take home a million dollar bonus and be ashamed of it.
