Re: GW vs UF... and now Cornell
If I woke up in your shoes, I'd be looking at apartments in Gainesville. The other options are just too expensive and frankly, your PhD is going to make you shine wherever you go. You'll get IP law from UF (I personally know 2 people in IP from UF Law, and I'm not even in that field), given your background... you may not have your pick of the firms, but you'll get IP law/IP salary from UF... and you won't be a slave through the middle years of your life because of loans.
I would certainly contact UF and see if they are willing to cough up more money... even if they don't though, I think that the mature decision here is UF.

About 3 threads below this one, well probably like 6 after I bump you, there is an old school thread for 30+ year olds. They can probably help.

if your wife has to stay in FL, go to UF. people underestimate the value of having a support system like that. you're obviously a smart guy with in-demand credentials; you are going to succeed at UF and have less debt. oh, and be closer to your wife!

Sounds like UF is the best choice for you. If you do well enough (top 5%) you can always transfer up if it doesn't feel like the right fit.

I doubt you'll regret this decision.Skyhook wrote:Thanks for all the help guys.
Going to Cornell!!!
Why? Everything I've discovered about the school seemed right for me.
Class size & organization, academic and clinical opportunities, reputation, access to NY market, the colour red...![]()
It is the most expensive option, still waiting on financial aid package, but I am prepared to invest in the opportunities.
Also, we are looking for more than Florida has to offer.
We'll probably move back and retire here, but the location is not right for us at the moment.
Looking forward to coming up for ASD in a couple of weeks, hope to see some TLS Cornies there!
